We hate him, right fellas?

He has single handedly destroyed the retro gaming market, and his NES book is filled with outright incorrect info.

>> No.5423625

Oh the humanity, how terrible people having incorrect info on 30 year old toys. We could be worried about the spread of cancer, war, immigration, but this clearly takes priority

What a stupid post. You are allowed to care about several things in life.

you're on the /vr/ board of 4chan

I'm not saying that. It's that his book will probably be used as a source of information in the future, and since Frank Cifaldi contributed to it, it's got even more credibility. Not that Frank Cifaldi is a credible source either, but the general public seem to believe he is which is in terms he would use, "problematic"

he's a piece of shit

Also, since that book released, genuinely rare NES games that were cheap I.e. Trolls on Treasure Island, Blackjack, Bases Loaded 4, and others have skyrocketed in price due to resellers buying all the copies on eBay up and cornering the market.

These games that used to be between 20-40 have gone up and while every other game has declined in price since the book released. He is aiding and abetting bad resellers.

Be prepared for the same to happen to SNES when his book on that releases.

This guy is weird. He really only got somewhat famous from AVGN's video and then he slips off the radar despite having some presence on YouTube, with people only noticing him when he says something stupid like him and Ian's video on Diablo: Immortal.

I hate youtube reviewers. they've fucked all my favorite hobbies.

yea i really hate this. the thing is, it's not about exposing "le hidden gems" it's that is creates artificial demand. People go out and buy something because they perceive its value wrong because of free advertising and overexposure.

I've pretty much modded/flashcarted every system I own and am happy about it. These days, i only buy gen 6-7 stuff and have really gotten into retro pc gaming. I found out I was late to the retro pc thing and all the old shit that you would throw to the curb in the past has gotten pretty expensive. the pentium I/II/III "gaming" pc prices on ebay are pretty funny though. Are there people really buying this stuff?

>> No.5423717

>>5423710
Even the mediocre stuff in most of my hobbies now is nearly out of my price range because of it, it's ridiculous.

And yeah, fuck these resellers and their robbery prices. The only people who would even think of buying these Pentium III "gaming" machines for $1k are people with more money than sense.

I watch the clips from his podcast he puts up every now and then. I don't have any strong opinions on either of them. I just wish Ian would get a fucking haircut and go to the gym.

>> No.5423743

I didn't like how he shit on his fanbase and shilled corporate shamelessly during the Blizzards Diablo fiasco. I can take differing opinions and all but his show was just filled with stinker after stinker and the Diablo immortal video was the last straw for me. Now I get most of my retro podcast fill from This Does Not Compute, Stop Drop and Retro (RIP his review and DIY videos), and Rerez's Hot Take.
