What's your favorite Mega Man game or series?

>> No.5418803

>>5418795
Ah, the weekly WYFMMGoS thread. It’s classic/3 for me

>> No.5418839 [DELETED]

I grew up with 2 so most likely that. The only stage I remember from it are wind and forest stage though.

probably X
I also like X6, 8, and I never finished legends, maybe one day. but it seems like a good game

Legends (game) and Zero/ZX (series)

>> No.5420361

Megaman Zero series for fucking sure

perfect combination of difficulty, smooth gameplay and challenge

specially Megaman Zero 3, has the best final boss of the four

My favorite Mega Man game is X4 but i do enjoy how the classic series is more consistent

X3 and X4 are my favorites but I also have a thing for X6 because if it wasn't for Capcom rushing the shit out of the devs, it would be better than both X4 and X5.

>> No.5420424

I only like the classic series and I only like the second and maybe third game.

Nah, youre just getting triggered over preference, autismo. I love most megamam games but the craziness of 2 is why i like it the most. Like the dragon head popping up out of nowhere before wilieys castle. Thats am awesome wtf moment tbqhwyf

2 and X.

>> No.5420850

Probably MegaMan 3 4 or 5, the classic games with slide are great. Playing through 9 right now on wily stage 4, 9's pretty good too

>> No.5420868

X series for sure and you can't go wrong with the first. Though X4 Is a close second

I like the X series but I kind of dislike the addition of the mandatory intro stage; it makes just picking the game and playing less appealing than classic megaman in which you jump right into any stage you want

>> No.5420904

>>5420885
It's is kinda just one stage though. After that it's all hunky dory from there.
I just prefer X because it has a lot more on the side for you with the extra abilities, the certain ways you can approach the game. I.e X5 How you want the mission to go about. Either complete it as expected or fuck up every decision and end up with just the entire thing going wrong.

>> No.5421679

>>5420885
I actually like the intro stages. Each one tries to condense the mechanics and teach them pragmatically even though if you played one X game, you can play all of them. I also like the X series more due to the maneuverability X and Zero have.

MM4. In my opinion it felt like a better 3 and after it, the series started to seriously tank. Like the last grail of the classic series lol

I couldn't disagree more. 4 is worst and I especially hate it for starting the 2 castle trend. 5 was a bit better and 6 is quite great.

>> No.5423631

>>5422287
This. 4 just had shit level design and had some questionable design choices that really got in the way. Everyone gave 5 shit but at least it improved on 4. Still low on the list though

MM3, great 8bit drama.
4 is alright too
never got the hype for 2 but it's okay

X series is my jam but other than "regular" Mega Man and Battle Network I haven't branched out much, I should probably try the other games.

5 has Star Man and Gravity Man. Those are fantastic stages.

>> No.5424079

Fuck off. 5 is right behind 2. Better than any other NES MM and a million times better than those shitty copouts 9 and 10.

X but only if counting 1-4. If I have to include all I'd just go with the classic NES series since it is amazing and consistent throughout.

4, though I'm currently working on speedrunning 1. First time ever speedrunning anything though, and I can't seem to do early magnet beam. Does anyone know if the legacy collection fucks with the input on the ladder glitch? I'll probably end up emulating it some other way anyhow so I can use autosplitting, but I'm just curious.

Why do people bitch so much about the screen crunch in 7 and 8? The games are designed around it, not really much of an issue.

This. The whole screen bitching is rather baseless.
A more thoughtful nitpick would be the fact levels are designed way more similar to MMX levels than classic NES MM, although there are elements from the later NES MM games on VII as well.
The reality is that VII is a bit of a black sheep simply because at the time of its release, people were already riding X's cock, and understandably so, X's dash and wall jumping was more exciting than old ass Mega Man's slide.
But VII is still a good game, it's classic MM but with less punishing design compared to NES ones, and more emphasis on exploration and finding secrets.
Bosses are good, and final boss poses a challenge.

Mega Man X is the only good Mega Man game.

>> No.5428084

i wish the games were more like 2's normal mode
the weapons you had felt powerful - even the buster - and enemies took a fair number of shots to kill; batons and other swarming enemies took one shot each, enemies like the fan guys in airman's stage took a bunch, and all the bosses took a hard but fair beating while putting up a challenge of their own

all in all everything felt far more balanced in your favor while still providing a challenge, and thus, entertainment, as opposed to hard mode's far more stressful gameplay

>> No.5428091

>>5423787
I'd play an entire game based around the Gravity Man stage gimmick. I wish more Mega Man levels had a more gameplay-involved theme like that
