The original Resident Evil 2 is honestly probably the most disappointing game I have ever played. I bought the remake of 2 and have played the fuck out of it and think that it is a 10/10 and a modern horror masterpiece. After seeing you guys say how shitty it is compared to the original, I downloaded the PC version and fired it up (played it on PC with ds3) and words cannot properly describe how disappointing it was. The game was literally bukkakeing me with ammo and herbs and it was so linear that it was sickening. It was such an on-rails shooter that I felt like I was playing a shitty third person version of Doom. The "puzzles" that are so often talked about are garbage compared to the puzzles in 1 and 3.

Don't even get me started on the bowgun...HOLY FUCK. You retards are complaining that it was removed from the remake?? Are you fucking serious? Anyway, compared to 1, 3, REmake, Outbreak 1 and 2, and even 0/CVX, it feels like a steaming pile of shit. 6/10 at best.

2 was strange and it felt like it was trying to be a shooter while still trying to build off the success of RE1 and maintain the survival thing, but it failed miserably in that regard.

Not everyone who enjoys the remake of 2 is a zoomer man. It is a great game in its own right, and I say this as someone on the autism spectrum who has been arguing about how awful OTS RE is since 4 was released.

At this point in time you have three options:
a) play re2 remake for what it is and enjoy it because it is objectively an amazing game
b) sperg out online about how they cut stuff out (while completely ignoring what they have added), sperg about it being an "action game" despite being more of a survival horror than the original, sperg about Claire and Leon's model not exact replicas of playstation 1 graphics, sperg about it being a "demake" despite being an upgrade in almost every way, sperg about "flashlight simulators", sperg hard and cry while being miserable and living in the past
3) kill yourself
The choice is yours bud.

At what point did you give in? I remember buying RE4 on PS2 on release and not beating it until a couple of years later because I hated how it was just straight up action. I'll admit that I had a blast with RE5 because I co-op'd it with a buddy on release night all the way through. RE6 was the final straw, though. What a shitfest of ideas.

I bought RER1 and RER2 during the steam summer sale last year and had fun playing them. They are awful RE games but overall still decent video games. I watched the news about the remake of 2 closely and have thought that it looked decent for a while now. I'm immune to horror now, but there are times when I can't help but think "wow this is actually kind of scary". For example, the east wing introduction at the start or the fucking run down the long west hall when zombies are pouring in through the windows. This part of the game is especially fucked when you return to get the jack handle. The female zombies audio effect is actually horrifying. Capcom has somehow improved on zombies and I didnt think that it was possible after REmake.

I guess I just looked at it and decided that it actually looks like a decent survival horror game despite the camera. I took the redpill and I don't regret it. 3 is my favorite and I am beyond excited for a remake of that.

Well I played the original first back in 1999 or so, then again a couple years ago. Didn't care much for it back then and hated it when I replayed it.

The story is so fucking meh, the underground lab and the whole g-virus birkin shit is way too grand to be believable and you litterally get showered in ammo and heals the whole game. I didn't die ONCE on the replay of either scenario.
And "Mr.X" is a fucking joke. Most boring enemy in the game, I really can't believe they thought he was a good idea after how awsome the original tyrant was.

I actually had high hopes for the remake fo fix atleast the "difficulty", and I was pleasently supprised. The hard mode is pretty good, graphics is fantastic and they managed too keep most of it feeling like 1998 and more or less true to the original RE2.

I still don't care much for the game as a whole, and Mr. generic is still lame.

Hunk mode is pretty awsome tho.

My favorite of the series is definitely RE3 Nemesis, followed by RE1.

Didn't like the retcon in REmake or any of the changes and "additional content", but was nice to play with better graphics.

After RE2 remake, I'm looking foreward to the Nemesis remake, I really hope they put some effort in it and don't fuck up 'ole Nemmie, or put fucking Wesker in there.

I'm honestly so fucking amazed they didn't put him in RE2 remake.

the original resident evil 1 not the remake on the game cube and later pc released was just resident evil 2 minus b alternate story line which included a different boss that you would fight and a lack with birkin and fewer endings

the original as well as the remake of the first game lets you not save people. so you save every one you can only 3 leave the mansion and clearly it was jills game. rebecca is supposed to die in the mansion but thats not much of a gameplay mechanic. it was nice but the different endings all seemed about the same. you leave in a helicopter. the remake just added in a couple more where tyrant survived the rocket launcher and is seen after you leave

Depending on where you choose to go first, and the choises you make in the boss fights the story changes between 4 scenarios and you can run into Nemesis on different locations throughout the game.

Telling me the Bowgun is missing from the remake is enough to keep me from playing it. Does she not even get a weapon at that point or is she just getting a shotgun like leon?
She's not supposed to get the same weapons that he has. Her segment is supposed to be harder.
> also the Bowgun is legit based on its description one of the fictional weapons I could see actually being useful IRL
> propellant launched arrows that skewer the bear 3 times, lots of meat penetration
> still has a crossbow on it in case you want to shoot crossbow bolts that arent propellant fired

The point I dont really agree with is the grenade launcher from the original game. They could've done away with that (did they?)

Claire's weapons work more in extremes in contrast to Leon's weapons, which are generally less powerful but more versatile:

>Her starting handgun is wank as fuck, but it can be upgraded with a speed loader and into a magnum with parts you can find.

>Her grenade launcher loads slow as hell, but more powerful and handles crowds better.

>Her MAC-11 is somewhat atypical of her loadout I find, you can use it to stun and delimb zombies, or you can use it to straight up melt bosses.

>The Sparkshot is monstrous, only downside is relative ammo unavailability and waiting for the damage to apply when you stick an enemy.

>The Browning Hi-Power is straight up better gun than her starting revolver and Leon's VP-70.

I miss that she doesn't have her crossbow, I don't like it when a remake or remaster removes content rather than adds from the original, but I'm not sure what niche it could have fulfilled that wasn't already covered by another weapon. I would have preferred it stayed in since I found it really odd that one of her weapons is straight up just another handgun, it felt kind of redundant.

Would have been more distinct than just another handgun, I like that Claire's weapons are not just visually distinct, but functionally distinct from Leon's, I like the contrast of their loadouts.

It could have found a niche, headshots kill zombies instantly like the shotgun, it is silent enough to not trigger Lickers, and has a greater effective range than the shotgun, but of course, only a single bolt can be loaded at a time to offset this and the ammo is much rarer than shotgun cartridges.

>>5429527
>You think that Claire is easier than Leon this time around?

When dealing with tougher enemies, yes, groups of weaker ones could be a pain in the ass unless you got them bunched together since her most used weapons generally have a lower capacity and are slower to reload.

So you were 10 or 11 in january 98. No wonder you think remake2 is better, you fucking sucked at the first game, probably kept trying to kill every enemy and couldn't run in tank controls or dodge. I was 16 in january 98 just so you know.

Lol fuck off nigger. Being young and playing RE makes it even better since it is scarier. I played re2 when it was released for about 10 seconds before turning it off because it was too scary on 1998 when I was 10. I tried again in 2000 when I was 12 and it was scary but doable.

Nope. I never found the original RE2 hard or tank controls challenging, hell I probably played it better as a kid than you even manage to do now (just the fact that you're even bringing up tank controls like they were ever hard in any way is all I need to know about how much you suck). My gripe with the original RE2 is not that it's hard -- on the contrary, my gripe is that it's far too easy. It might as well be an on-rails shooter with absolutely brain dead mechanics and poor survival horror design. To use a meme word, I'd describe RE2 as 'comfy', which I've realised is actually just a euphemism for 'casual'.

How do you dare to compare an old game such this with the remake? At that time re2 was awesome and was the best that we had in 1998 because IT WAS 1998 YOU FUKING RE-TURD.
