Hey guys, I'm OP dads .I remember when my son was playing this game he became very enraged and livid in the living room, raging at the screen and continuously yelling the words "cringe" and "bluepilled". I couldn't really tell what they meant. Afterwards I saw him furiously type on his mac laptop I bought him and saw him watch someone play the game instead. It baffled my mind why he would do this when he was already doing it previously. Anyways, sorry guys my sons a faggot, I tried to raise him right but it failed and I must now face the consequences

I disagree. The only thing I had trouble with in Zelda 1 was finding the 7th dungeon, which should have more or less become apparent where it was after they give you the hint but I am a dense motherfucker. I probably would have eventually found it but actually I saw it on the Zelda documentary. Still kind of mad about that spoiling that part of the game for me but meh, whatever.

tl;dr you shouldn't need a guide for Zelda 1 unless you're retarded

That's the best and most clever part of the game though. Hiding a dungeon like that and figuring that out is such a huge 'oh shit' moment that the game builds up towards. LoZ is legitimately a solid IQ test, as you can solve pretty much everything by noticing the right patterns.

Not walkthroughs exactly, but you need a lot of knowledge of what items have what effects, how to identify them and strategies for how to deal with certain situations. Luck is a factor but on it's own is never enough. So there are spoiler guides if you want to spoil the game for yourself instead of figure out what. Stomachs don't grumble, they rumble or growl. This is a case of poorly translating Japanese onomatopoeia. I'm positive that in Japanese he must have made a very specific sound that is only associated with hunger, but English doesn't have as much variety in onomatopoeia as Japanese, so it becomes confusing in translation.

Fuck off, no one in my part of the US ever says their stomach is "grumbling." Just about everyone says "growling" and a few people say "rumbling." But my point was that Japanese actually has very specific onomatopoeia that is used near-universally in their media throughout the country, so there are probably less of these regional differences causing problems there. Whereas in English speaking countries these kinds of things are highly regional.

It's not common in all regions, that's my fucking point. I'm sure it's used SOMEWHERE, but that doesn't mean it's common EVERYWHERE, and that's exactly the problem. Back in the days before everyone had internet, these regional differences were much more stark and people were a lot more closed off from other places. You couldn't just Google a word or phrase and find any esoteric definition you could possibly want like you can today, so if there was a word or phrase used only in some other part of the country or world you probably just didn't even know about it at all. The localizers should have found a more universal way to translate it.

>You couldn't just Google a word or phrase and find any esoteric definition

Right you could use a dictionary which provides a perfectly fine definition of a common word if for some reason it wasn't used in your region. There's no reason at all why it should have confused anyone.

>> No.5411054

Oh fuck off, not only was "grumble" commonly used by the culture at large in comic books or cartoons or in coloring books as a stand in for the sound your stomach makes, but, more importantly, even if you were a 5 year old who couldn't read (which I was) you have about 8 items in your inventory total and after you've walked up to him and tried all the things in your inventory (which takes about 20 seconds) you'll have opened the way; which me and every other five year old kid was able to do.

And the funny thing is, even if "grumble" did mean anger (which it does also) there's only about two items in your inventory that could potentially pacify an angry monster, food or potions. Every single time one of you faggots comes out to complain about the "cryptic" shit in this game, it's always some room temperature IQ garbage that every kid figured out effortlessly. The hard part of this game was the blue darknuts and the wizzrobes, not finding Dungeon 7 or giving meat to the hungry / angry monster.
