what's your favorite crash game? I'm replaying crash 1 and holy shit it has such tight platforming.

1 is far and away the best. it did more with less mechanics, looked better, had a comfy island overworld instead of lame buttons and portals, scaled in difficulty perfectly, alt-ending, gems have physical uses, more challenging, darker atmosphere than the others... also my first game ever so i'm biased but nothing compares to the feels i got from working my way through it when i was a kid.

1 is the best one. It's just a straight up DKC1 in 3D. Straightforward platforming in a island setting, it also had the best difficulty. The other 2 are very fucking good as well.

1 is clearly the best, 2 and 3 are too casual. 1's levels make you earn victory.

and that's saying something because they're all great. The only thing i didn't like a whole lot on 1 was that if you go forward, Crash moves slightly more than he was supposed to. But in the end you just need to get the gist of it, i think. It's a unique, very good game anyway.

Modestly, I'm very good at Donkey Kong and Crash, the best is the second. Recently I played N Sane Trilogy and the game is very easy, the bosses were facilitated, increasing the delay of their actions, mainly the Neo Cortex of the second game.
Obvious tips appear in each loading, indicating up to a few secrets like blue and green diamond. Dying in the first game does not make you lose the boxes, things are more "rounded" leaving everything colorful and childish too.
I do not know why Youtubers gaymers were crying at launch. I stopped at 2 to not disappoint me anymore.

>> No.5350645

Warped since the platformer levels have a nice flow to them to make time trials enjoyable. Even the gimmick levels are fun when going for the platinum relics.

Probably 2 overall for best levels and secrets. 3 is weighed down a bit by the number of vehicle levels, but kind of makes up for it by having the best bosses. I'm a little biased because 3 was my first.

>> No.5353258

2 was the only good one. 1 was too unpolished (can only save if you go to the bonus stage, the fuck?) and had some questionable level designs, while 3 had too much bullshit that got in the way of the platforming. Of course, all 3 are better than any non-retro Crash game.

>> No.5353525

2 is my favourite. I love the cramped feeling of it's hubworlds but 3 does have some of my favorite levels. It just also had a lot of my least favorite levels too.

I’ve actually never played these games. Are the recent remakes as unironically garbage as I’ve heard on this board, or are they decent?

>> No.5353728

>>5353258
I applaud Crash 1 for doing what it did, but Crash 2 really is when Crash Bandicoot hit that perfect level.
>Levels balance is handled perfectly
>Save system completely overhauled
>New gameplay elements like surfboard and hover offer a break up from the usual fare but don't overstay their welcome like Crash 3's numerous non-platforming parts
>Music gets some real nice tunes
>Characters are much more expressive overall
>Clancy Brown replaces Brendan O'Brian as Cortex and nails the role perfectly
>Brendan returns too for other characters and the improved audio recording means his voice acting skill really comes out
>secrets are handled in a way that makes a player go "I KNEW IT" when they find one rather than feeling like a cheap ploy to buy a strategy guide

About the only black marks you could give Crash 2 are the jetpack awkwardness never really gets fun, and the game fizzles out on the worst boss fight in the series as its final boss.

>> No.5353731

>>5353527

I'm the one you quoted, I've 100%'d the remakes, and the originals are better. The only thing I can argue against the originals is the saving method of Crash 1. But then again if you're not a casual faggot it's a non issue.

>> No.5353746

I always preferred Crash 3 when I was a kid for the different settings and the beautiful HUB, but I recently played the Trilogy again and only then I realized how much Warped is filled with non-platforming levels like the bike one. Like every 2 levels there's a fucking gimmicky one. Now I prefer Crash 2.

>> No.5354468

I liked 1 the most because it focused more on the core gameplay: platforming, but I like the movement of 2 and 3 more.
My dream Crash game would be platforming of 1 combined with movement and hub area of 2 and 3. (It would be fine to have few power ups from 3, like double jump)

>> No.5354483

Crash Bandicoot is alright, 1 sucked, Crash Bandicoot 2 is the best one, 3 is the best looking one.

2 is the best, 1 feels too clunky and the variety of the levels is pretty lame, also some of them have bullshit difficulty.

>> No.5355812

>>5353728
Agree for the most part but I thought the jetpack levels were awesome, and (probably related) the Cortex fight is way too short but its far from the worst in the series when you compare it to Papu, Pinstripe, and Komodo Bros, which barely require you to move, and Ripper Roo in 2, which literally doesn't require you to move.
