Fallout's combat is that of a proper RPG, though. That's more than I can say about PDS's, which is bad, boring, and takes too long to boot. The game being so short is merciful to its players.

I tried to enjoy it but cutscenes aside (which were a major annoyance) the gameplay itself wasn't really my thing.

It was flying around in straight lines blasting stuff for no real gain (imagine walking through a linear world map in a typical FF JRPG and having many chests lined up for you to open; that's PDS in a nutshell) and going into random battles. Not particularly fun ones, but this happens because random battles have never been good except in games where there's something at stake (like losing your entire party in a Wizardry game). Hell, the thing about random battles in Wizardry is that you need to explore the dungeons and the random battles may end up fucking up your party, they are effectively a roadblock that force you to get stronger.

I'll be fair to the game, though:

1. I don't like JRPGs anymore except for a select group.
2. I also have other things in my mind and that may stop me from fully enjoying games. So whereas last year I was fully enjoying Cuphead, this year I managed to beat one enemy in the hardest difficulty but didn't get any enjoyment out of it.
