I just got a grey Sega Saturn with the intent of installing Pseudo Saturn Kai on it, and found to my dismay that the normal trick won't work because the item that is usually taped to make the system think that the lid is closed just doesn't exist. This is still a model 1 if I'm not mistaken, so if I install PSK onto my cartridge with a different Saturn, will I be able to run it and play CD-Rs then with no problem? Pardon if this is stupid/obvious but there seems to be very little documentation regarding use of grey Saturns.

Yes it will work but you're telling me it has no form of lid switch?

Frankly I don't believe that as it would render the console unsaleable.

It probably has one but seems to be inaccessible. At least according to this: http://ppcenter.webou.net/devblog/article/102/pseudo-saturn-faq-may-2017-edition.html

>It concerns :
> - A specific hardware revision of Saturn : Japanese grey model 1 (95% sure), with power supply connector screwed to Saturn top case (not so sure).
> - Any game or application on burned on CD-R

>So if you have Pseudo Saturn 0.832 and the "wrong" (incompatible) hardware revision of Saturn, it's not possible to play any CD-R copy of your games, and consequently can't upgrade your cartridge to other version of Pseudo Saturn, since it requires to boot a CD-R

>Annoying isn't it ? The countermeasure is to either :
> 1. Install latest Pseudo Saturn Kai on your Saturn cartridge
> 2. Use another Saturn, compatible with Pseudo Saturn 0.832

Whatever lid switch it has is not where it normally is in tutorials, and as of yet I have no reason to believe that it can be utilized in the same way as US/white Saturns.

But anyway, thanks for the confirmation. Guess I'll just hit up my friend this weekend.

Fair enough, but if you're impatient...

Yes, sort of. The one potentially major caveat of the grey saturn when it comes to Pseudo Saturn is that it CAN'T run back ups of Panzer Dragoon Zwei and Saga. Even if you patch your iso and use a different loader it still won't work.

I’ve played through Panzer Sragoon Zwei many times with PSK
