>Is about 200 hours too long.
It actually feels unfinished. Several parts were sadly cut during developpement.

>> No.5311321

>>5311316
As always with this, it's not that it's "unfinished" that is a problem but rather that they finished the pointless or irrelevant parts.

But the game has more bullshit than an early Sierra P&C.
>click to go to lab/power station (can't remember what it was, but it was the building right at the start)
>"I can't go there until I find the chick."
>my assumption of what this means: You have to look around and find the chick
>what the game wants you to do: ignore what he said and click to go there again (twice in a row, not just twice over all).

Have this in my backlog.
How is it, gameplay wise?
Is it like...
X-change or Tokimeki Check In
>Press spacebar and occasionally pick an option

Season of the Sakura
>Have to choose look think and talk but otherwise it's pressing spacebar

Runaway city, three sisters story or nocturnal illusions
>Have to autistically look think talk and move, checking every possible location every 5 minutes in order to progress to get the next dialogue

Season of the Sakura is my favourite, for reference

Oh hey I was just gonna come here and start a YU-NO thread.
Overall it's very good and unique and people should play it. Occasionally the art and the music are fantastically beautiful. Over time I've probably built it up in my mind to be better than it really is. It really is just a goofy sci-fi story at the end of the day, one which even sort of starts to fall apart at the end, in spite of some occasional flashes of something truly remarkable.

>> No.5312730

>>5311865
It's the third one. There are many screens where you just have to try clicking on every pixel multiple times until you can finally advance.
But you should still play it because everything about it outside of the gameplay is so good.

>> No.5312735

It's an excellent game that's more than the sum of its parts. The dialogue is extremely well written and fun to read, and the character interactions are great. The aesthetic and music are on point too. Pity it's too long for brainlets.

There are three versions of YU-NO.

The original PC98, the Saturn release and the Elf Classics version for PC. These differ a bit, but for your purposes you just need to know the English patch works with the Elf Classics version and uncensors it to the level of the PC98 version and adds content from the Saturn one.

Fuwanovel is just preinstalled version of that English patched Elf Classics.

A bit. I think I've played maybe 10 before it.
This one is different from most though, since it has point-and-click elements.

You don't need to worry about locking yourself into a dead end or anything like that, you can always restart the game with your current inventory in tact. It also has a neat save system that's meant to be abused, it'll make sense once you get into it.

Hold ctrl when going through a scene you've already seen to skip text.

There is one section where you have to solve a nonogram out of nowhere.
There was a bonus disk that added some easier nonograms for training that should be included in the élf Classics version. Otherwise you can also just play Picross to understand nonograms.

Hint: rewatch the opening after you feel stuck.
