Depends on what I'm itching for. For a more traditional Bomberman, I'd go for '94 but if I want to play something more story-oriented, I'd go for The Second Attack!. Saturn will always be peak Bomberman experience in my book though.

Second Attack, mostly out of nostalgia.

Shame we never got a third proper game in the 64 series, even if Hero is pretty good.

A mix between the classic Bomberman games and some elements from more unorthodox Bomberman games, like Charabon powers, multiple routes and elemental bombs. Also a meaty single player content with co op possibility and maybe a hard mode like Master mode in Saturn Bomberman. Multiplayer modes should be customizable as fuck including tons of modes, maps and gimmicks.

>slowdown
>much lower color count
>4 player not 5
>missing graphical effects

the genesis was absolutely a more powerful system than the turbografx, but bombermna 94 pushed the pce to it's limit

porting a game from one 16-bit system to the other always had negative consequences

snes to genesis
>much lower color count
>lower audio quality

genesis to snes
>higher color count at the cost of much lower screen resolution (almost like playing a gameboy game)

genesis/snes to pc engine (rare but exists)
>loss of parallax

pc engine to genesis (rare but exists)
>lower color count
>slowdown in some cases

pc engine to snes
>lower audio quality if ported from CD

No, unless there’s another one I’m not aware of. B2DS had normal Bomberman, but a bit taller than usual and a rounder head I think.

Had a shitload of equipment/customization options you could have him wear.

Also Pocket Bomberman is underrated.

I never really "got" Bomberman multiplayer, I get that the basic goal is to try to trap your opponents between a wall and a bomb but it's not clear to me how actual high-level strategy works when most of the map is cleared out by the time players are even able to reach each other and at that point there's no obstacles left to trap people with

Overrated for what's basically a meh platformer. Killer soundtrack though.

>> No.5296823

>>5296445
Because of the power ups, you can use multiple bombs, they can have a longer range, you can have a bonus/malus where you character either runs faster or slower... so you try to trap your opponent between bombs, or try to trick him by making a bomb explode sooner thanks to another bomb.

>> No.5296867

>>5296445
You either focus on cutting the shortest path to your enemies and kill them as fast as possible or take your time blasting all soft blocks and collecting all the panels you can get. Honestly though, the most fun I get with multiplayer is having bad luck and finding few stuff and then trying to one up enemies with a lot more stuff than you.

>> No.5296959

It's not hate per se. It's just both a mediocre platformer and bomberman game. Both 64 and Seconed Attack! overshadowed it in terms of quality and popularity.
