Some people want gizmos under their skin. More functionality, you know? They find a shady doctor and get it done. Someone sees the final product and they're likely going to think "DAMN SON! That is grotesque."

It's funny how biz and retro gamers in general obsess over having original expensive PVMs and playing the real thing over emulators, then a few members go and hack up working consoles or gameboys and ruin their future value and they get props from the community.

I was. I just wasn't ever into the "sewer" aesthetic when it came to cartoons, except as the occasional novelty like in Mad Magazine. TMNT, Toxic Avenger, Ed Roth. It didn't speak to me. I didn't want to dress up as a turtle for Halloween, I didn't want the toys, and the cartoon was vapid.

The art and aesthetic of the original comic book are cool in a way, and I like a few of the video games. That's about all I can say about it. There was nothing about the franchise that merited extra attention.

>Also I give it props for surpassing the very material it originally parodied.
This is like the cartoon version of "'Ironic shitposting' is just 'shitposting.'"

It looks awful, and the need for such extreme flexibility is very low. The system already has composite, s-video, and stereo audio out of the existing multi-av port. The RGB connectors could be added to the rear in a much more aesthetically pleasing manner. There's no need to have separate phono connectors for each color line, a single additional DIN connector could have been added with the RGB lines on it, and a custom RGB cable made. At 240p there won't be any issue with cross-interference in the DIN connector.

Modding systems or menues to look like other systems or OSes has got to be the most head-scratching and pointless thing ever. Just fucking why?

Examples:
- A classic xbox (180) with the 360 blades style GUI.
- A PSP with a Windows XP/Vista XMB theme.
- The abomination you posted.
- etc.

Is it just one dude making these, or do people actually like that shit?

You should look up the most common issues with the SNES. Most of what you said is invalidated with any understanding of how bad internally it is. Even more so with using a single din or multi out.

>Future value
You seriously think people spend effort modding consoles for profit? Most people do this for their own convenience and to play a game that looks as good as it can with no bad side effects.

>> No.5285719

>>5282367
That is bad because literally all these signals already come out of the multiout, except for component, but you can solve that easily with a RGB to component transcoder. The only signal missing is digital audio out, but that would be something useful so of course that's missing.

Doubtful. RGB modding doesn't seem to fall under the types of mods that are punishable by these new laws. It seems they're more targeting save game editors and cheat devices.

It's weird to see people are still using Action Replay and comparable cheat devices for modern handhelds and consoles. Most modern games are either easy as hell so you don't need to make the game easier with cheat codes or they put in microtransactions that only let you proceed if you pay.

It doesn't refer to retro game console mods though, but that's "games as a service" for you. Companies have 100% control over the games you buy these days. Deviating from the publisher's "intended" method to play their game could mean bans, subscription cancellations, or in the case of Japan now, legal action.
