Of course they aren't using OEM parts. Sega doesn't make those anymore. They are officially licensed from Sega though and apparently they have been using the original design documents regarding the controllers.

iBuffalo SNES: D-pad shape lacks the coin so diagonal and circle movements are trash
8bitdo SNES: erroneous diagonal input registrations (easy fix with hole punch tape, 99% doesn't exist in their new models)
8bitdo NES: fucking ugly, wrong button layout, and the only one that looks good is NES classic exclusive
Nintendo Switch NES: only works with NES online
Hyperkin SNES NES: bad cheap plastic shells, hard-press buttons, and on the SNES one a bad capacitor that's easily blown out from normal use
Brawler64: analog Z buttons, wrong stick type, A B being too far in/down

There's going to be wired and 2.4G ones too. At this point I don't think the bluetooth ones work with the original consoles as they haven't said anything about adapters or shown them.

Apparently the one with analog sticks is still a "hard prototype" according to Retro-bit's twitter.

Instead of creating a dual stick version of every controller I think they'd be better off only making a dual stick version of the 3d pad. you still get a sweet dpad and 6 face buttons with triggers, and it would be a good compact way to play Virtua On.
