I see a lot of them around here for sale but for some reason they spiked up in price lately, people selling them for 100€ or more.

Fair enough regarding the aftermarket controllers tho, I heard some are actually good, forgot which brand exactly.

I would get a mini purely for the controllers but after more careful consideration I'm gonna buy instead the adapter for the original snes controllers so I can plug them in the GameCube port.

The reason I actually got a Wii is so I can hook it up to my CRT using component, the pi only offers composite and the mini is only HDMI.

N64 on the Pi is terrible and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot with low standards or a liar.

Some of the more popular games are fully playable but all are extremely inaccurate and have performance issues. A significant chunk of the library doesn't run at all, or has game-breaking issues. Several require significant tweaking on a game-by-game basis. Even the best-running games will have noticeable framerate issues or stutter (far beyond what they should have) along with occasional sound and graphical glitches.

Do not trust anyone who tells you to buy a Pi for N64. It's the easiest way to tell that they haven't actually tested shit and don't know what they're talking about.

Almost every older system is fine.

same with wii u, probably same with switch
for ones that aren't compatible you can try retroarch, it has ports for every console or handheld that has been hacked and is powerful enough to run it, although i have no idea how n64 performance is through retroarch on those devices

N64 is hit or miss, the best way to get any sort of N64 working on the pi is to overclock and look up which roms work with mupen64's various gfx plugins. I managed to finally beat Ocarina of Time on my pi3b+ and it only really lagged at the end of the game where you have to escape ganon's castle with zelda in tow.

Be sure to update to the latest version of RetroArch available for it, you can use run-ahead safely in NES, Genesis and SNES with the proper cores (FCEumm, Genesis Plus GX and Snes 9X 2005), should help you considerably in reducing input lag.

Probably a single device that can be used to emulate everything would be my guess. I have an old Macbook Pro from 2012 that I run everything off of. I't not an ideal emulation device due to the most supported emulators being for Windows OS, but it serves it's purpose for everything below 6th gen, plus DS and PSP. I'm currently playing Medievil, but I've also been really into ZX Spectrum games lately. I just beat "Abu Sinver Propagation", but 3D Starstrike II has been kicking my ass.

It's nice, but I can't get PS1 to work properly. Shitty audio on everything.

I got it to play with family in the living room and to introduce my nieces to old games.
