Would you rather play a 3d ps1 game on original hardware and a 20" PVM, or emulated on a large screen, upscaled to 4k, widescreen hack, runahead to cure lag, texture perspective correction, and dithering pattern removed? Which would a child prefer?

I emulate, but fuck upscaling to 4k. I render both PS1 and N64 at native resolution with a basic CRT shader. Looks fucking fantastic on a 65" OLED. Upscaling 5th gen makes just makes them look blown out and awful

Based and redpilled

There are no good 3D PS1 games outside of racers and those would look better on the PVM

A child would just play the game. Only autismos like you obsess over how dated 3D is displayed.

>>5259856
CRT shaders are shite. None of them come close to looking like an actual CRT.

This isn’t reddit. I know you’re desperate to upvote comments you agree with but you could at least add a bit more substance to your post.

Emulated on a PVM with texture perspective correction and 32bit color. And also, no slowdown and much shorter load times.

OG Hardwarefags get fucked.

Calm down. Now, try playing Ridge Racer 4 with perspective correction, then without. If you're at all sensitive to visual changes, it will almost be impossible to go back to playing the original, uncorrected way. It's not really autistic or obsessing, it's just a huge change that makes the game incredibly more enjoyable.

I've tried PS1 games on a professional monitor and scaled to 4K and I honestly think it's not that different. Once you get high enough video quality, it all tends to look pretty close. That goes for pretty much any game actually.

But it’s soulless. The dithering and spastic textures are part of the charm.

Keep it on a crt causer those textures look shitty above 1024x768

All that butt-ugly filtering and still no texture correction...

WipeOut looks amazing upscaled to 4K, especially with texture scalers on. Its the way the developers would have wanted it if the tech were available. (Seeing as Wipeout HD was one of the few true native 4K games for PS4].
