First, why the hell are co-op/split screen games so damn rare? I know it makes more money for people to have their own copies etc but half of my /vr/ interests are moot because no-one wants to play old games with me. That's gonna change.

I'm setting up a game station with USB controllers and emulators for my family. I don't know what elitist opinion there is on this scrublord setup but I really just want advice on good multiplayer games. Can be co-op, or just good ol' multiplayer ie: Tekken. I know I missed some good shit in my generic upbringing.

Wife used to play DotA, various PSX games. Son is still quite young so just going to make it adult-friendly.

My siblings always want to play Tetris Plus and Mean Bean Machine on holidays.
Christmas is all about nostalgia, it's the perfect time to play retro games with family.
