There's nothing wrong with Patreons in theory. The problem is that a ton of people who use Patreons are people who are not doing any work that justifies a Patreon.

Only Peace Keepers ("localized" version of Rushing Beat Shura) was so mangled that you can actually see when you're playing, the first and second one they just changed the plot and characters name.
