I'll start with an obvious one.

This could have easily been an action platformer for NES/Genesis

I'd like to reverse OP's premise and say that Rockin' Kats would have made an excellent Saturday morning cartoon.

The manga ran from 91 to 97, with the OVA in the latter half. What could have been? An action platformer in the 16 bit prime days or a shitty visual novel like so many of the anime licence games in the Japanese 32 bit days? A genre mix maybe? driving stages alternating with clunky 3rd person shooting/platforming?

>> No.5224956

>>5224321
Even moreso, it could have been one of those 'edutainment' games that soccer moms crowed over and praised, with the wholesome messages between stages or after catching one of the big bads. Win/win

Also, bless you for remembering COPS positively, anon.

I was thinking either Rolling Thunder style side scroller or PS1 TPS with driving stages, yeah. Or maybe a VN with Time Crisis lightgun stages?

Are there many 3D games with that 80s/90s urban anime feel? I like it.

Would kill for a Guyver beat em up. Doesn't even matter if it's good or not I just want at least one Guyver video game it's horseshit Apocalypse Zero gets a video game adaptation but not Guyver.

Viper would have been cool if it was done right.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfBmqLSRzWU

Of course, it wouldn't have been done right and would just have been a cheap driving game or primitive 3-D action game.

This. GitS is a PS hidden gem.

I think an Evangelion branded Armored Core would have been great, though the limitations of the PS1 would have probably taken it's toll.

Not sure if this counts, but, does anyone know the film Son of the White Mare? Watched it recently, it's probably the most "videogame-y" movie I have ever seen, both in audiovisual and narrative terms.

Being a cult hungarian animation, I understand why it hasn't been adapted or even taken as inspiration, but god do I wish it had...

It's sad when kids cartoons from back then look like fucking artistic masterpieces of realism compared to the modern day autism-inducing crap.

Kissyfur would have made a good platformer by Capcom or Konami for 8bit or 16bit.

I agree, but was Kissyfur that popular? Does anyone besides Brazilians remember Kissyfur nowadays?

>> No.5227537

>>5227534
I don't know but you might be onto something, I'm not BR but I'm from Argentina. It wasn't really popular here though, I just happened to rent the VHSs, it wasn't even on TV.
I just remember it being super comfy and I can easily imagine a cute platformer in the vein of Tiny Toon or the disney Capcom games.

Part of it is money, crap economy and TV is actively dying as we speak. Current big animation groups are trying to figure out the future for their companies, so right now is unfortunately a bad time to invest in quality animation.

>> No.5228406

>Almost every TV show is now being made in cheap, soulless CGI.
>The ones that are still 2D animation are SJW garbage like Steven Universe, She-Ra, or that just plain awful Thundercats remake
This is the worst possible timeline, isn't it?
