Seriously though, I wish there were more villains like Luca Blight. Just straight-up psychopaths with immense power; they're slaughtering people in their homes and you have to stop them. No shitty redemption angle or anything.

I never see this mentioned anymore about Luca Blight because it is never explained in game. But the reason Luca Blight is such a malicious sociopath was from seeing his mother, the Queen of Highland gang-raped repeatedly by ruffians when he was a kid. Han Cunningham ended up saving them, and Sara, the Queen of Highland gave birth to Jillia from the rape.

It was later found out that Muse hired the ruffians to kidnap them both, which explains Luca's almost rational hate for the City-State of Jowston, and explains why he is such a psychopath in his adult years. He felt powerless to do anything to help his mother and started hating himself, hated his father for not sending help in the first place (Han acted on his own), then hated everything and wanted everything to burn. Luca is as much a victim of war like Pilika is. Probably my favorite villain of all time.

It's mentioned in Suikogaiden iirc, the visual novel with Nash. Suikosource.com has Luca's full backstory. Jillia was already mentioned to be Luca's half-sister in Suikoden II, and Luca gets defensive when Agares mentions his mother's name to Luca during the scene where Luca poisoned his father Agares with Jowy.

How long is this old sack of shit? It's getting stale and looks like filler episodes of some corny anime.

It was kinda weird continuing the game after Luca, super anti-climatic. I guess they wanted to rehash Gregminster.

Honestly suikoden is totally generic. I can at least understanding putting up with generic JARPIGs for the characters or good graphics but suiko doesn't even have that.

Not being lazy I dropped suiko 1 halfway through because nothing interested me. At least generic shitty JARPIGs like Grandia, Lunar, Princess Crown, Tales Of, Samurai Spirits RPG play like ass but at least look beautiful with hand drawn animation. Suikoden has the same amount of animation frames as Breath of Fire on SNES.
