Browse the "Video Games" section of your local Craigslist (or your country's equivalent) and see if there are any retro goodies.

First order of business: What the fuck is this?

Okay, I did a bit of research, and it's a Hyper Neo Geo 64, SNK's successor to the Neo Geo MVS that specialized in 3D games. Only 7 games were ever made for it, and it was discontinued shortly. The game that comes with this board is Samurai Showdown 64, which was never ported to a home console. Apparently it's a pretty innovating 3D fighter. Think it's worth $55?

this is what i paid $35 for a few years ago. you can't tell from the picture but there is a mild scuff on the left side (was that way when i got it)

reason most ngpc games are loose is because when snk got bought out the remaining games and systems got gutted and repackaged around 2003 without their boxes or manuals so finding one with a box and manual is pure gold.

if you don't mind loose most ngpc games can be bought for cheap and generally are quite fun to play, especially the fighters like "gals fighters"

I hear Gals Fighters is amazing, but I've yet to find a copy for myself.

As far as Faselei goes, search it on Amazon. There's a guy selling it for ~$20, but the picture is a Bob the Builder keychain. It's legit. It's where I got mine, the one that appears to be the UK copy. Text is important. It's a text-heavy game, and if it's the JP copy, you're going to need a guide to play, and I think that would diminish the enjoyment of playing it.

The Gaming Source's selection is pretty abysmal, and it seems like the owner doesn't even try to bring in new stock anymore. I can't be mad at them, because I got Panzer Dragoon there, but I'm disappointed pretty much every time I go. The comic book shop next to them is pretty good, though.

CT's Craigslist is a bit barren, and when it isn't, it's all shitheads trying to get crazy prices. I did meet one bro who was willing to come to fair prices on some Sega CD stuff, though. I got Popful Mail, Lunar, and Robo Aleste, all with disc and manual, for $90.

Vouching for retro games plus

It was an hour away, but well worth it. Their selection was really great, brother and I got a few ones we'd been looking for and I nabbed castlevania legends for 1/2 of >ebay price. Actually found 3/5 of the games I'd went with in mind. Guys were helpful and "knew" retro, it felt like.

Retro Games Plus really is great. It really reminds me of what Funcoland was like back in the day. If I didn't live nearly an hour away I would work there. I spend at least 2-3 hours there (and usually upwards of $100) every time I go.

I usually go to the Redwood Flea Market on the line between Wallingford and North Haven. Best find I got there was a Nomad for $30 and Streets of Rage 3 for $4.

That sentence quite literally makes no sense. "Generation" is an arbitrary categorization that we created. There's no way that any console can "full stop" be in any generation, as it's a made up word from the outset.

Pasta:

Here's my argument for why the Dreamcast should be allowed on /vr/.

1) In the sticky, two criteria were given for what counts as retro: release date and generation. The release date of a console is cut and dry; the Dreamcast was released in 1998 in Japan, and 1999 elsewhere, and that's a fact. "Generation" is a human-imposed category that is not nearly as straight forward. The Dreamcast was released at the end of what is traditionally thought of as the "5th generation" and lived until the beginning of the "6th generation". It doesn't fit nicely into either category. As the Dreamcast satisfies one criteria but fails to satisfy the other, I believe we should default to the one that is objective and fact-based.

2) The N64 and Playstation received new releases well after 1999, and yet those games seem to be okay to discuss in /vr/. I have seen threads about several early 2000's games, e.g. Paper Mario, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, etc. Similarly then, Dreamcast games released in the early 2000's should be fine.

Playstation: Released prior to 1999, received games after 1999
N64: Released prior to 1999, received games after 1999
Dreamcast: Released prior to 1999, received games after 1999

3) Finally, many of the games in the Dreamcast's library are multiplatform games which appear on the N64 and Playstation. Discussing these games on those consoles, but barring discussion of them on the Dreamcast is absurd.

Nope. Looks exactly the same as the Circuit Edition or whatever.

Sidenote, anyone know of any way to play Daytona USA online today at all? I have someone in the UK I want to play it with but we can't find a way.

Right, and if the Dreamcast is allowed, why not the ports of its games on GC or PS2?

Someone is selling a bunch of Nintendo 64 games. Some are good deals like F-Zero X for $6, but then there's Conker's Bad Fur Day for $70.

I might just get Jet Force Gemini, F-Zero X, Star Wars Rouge Squadron and Pokemon Snap all costing around $20, which I suppose it's a neat deal.

Just get the XBLA/PSN game.

I know there's a community of Netlinkers worldwide, but I think you need a landline. It's apparently really hard to do today.

If I remember from youtube, the Netlink is independent of ISP's, you just need the phone number of the opponent to dial up.

Oh no, OoT was released on the Gamecube! If we let people talk about OoT, they might start talking about Gamecube games! Better ban all discussion of OoT. Actually, to be safe, let's just ban all N64 discussion. Wouldn't want a handful of people to mention a port once or twice, that would be the worst thing ever.

Probably some princess magic. I wonder if the whole floating in the air thing has ever been properly explained? I know it's from SMB2 but it was in melee too. Maybe like Zelda, she just has that princess magic.

Might look into this a bit more. Not sure if it would work for my case though since I want something that can work from the US to UK.

>> No.519948

well, in theory, all you would have to do is put in your phone providers international code, followed by 44 (for the Uk)
Up here in Canada, as an example, the international number is:
01144 + UK phone number

Oh wow. I had a horrible break up with a bitch from Bristol in December and she made off with like half my fucking game collection.

If she decides to sell any of it, it'll probably end up at Gaming Source. She loves that place.

If any of you folks come into possession of a CiB Starfox 64, Majora's Mask, or Shadows of the Empire any time soon, enjoy. My balls have touched those boxes and carts.

Well, I have those CiB already, so I don't have to worry about your balls having touch my hands by proxy way of games.

Sorry to hear about your loss, though. You should have pressed charges against the cunt.
