from the makers of earth worm jim, does anyone remember it?

>> No.5175393

Nope. What kind of game is it?

>> No.5175397

>>5175393
2.5 platformer

It ok, but once the fuck-the-enemies-up gimmick wears off it loses a bit of steam. Also there's some bland driving levels that add little; one of them reuses the first Buttville track from EWJ iirc

>> No.5175717

This was forgotten almost immediately. But there was definitely aggressive advertising for it back in "the day" because it had been created by the Earthworm Jim team.

It reminds me of that other game - Messiah. Massive hype surrounding its development but ultimately forgotten.

Yeah, I had the demo. I tried to play the full game to completion years later but it would crash on every emulator out there, I'll have to try it now on mednafen. Top tier soundtrack

Yep, interesting concept and tone/environment. Mildly crap execution.
>>5175715
I think the driving levels were what made me give up on it. Watched a friend struggle through until he beat it.

I had it on a demo disc and it seemed really good. Grabbing the enemies and slamming them around was fun though. I've heard it's really repetitive though.

Pretty crap game. Dropped it after the third level. Shame because the concept was cool.

I'd give my left nut for Wex's Rig.

I'd give my right nut for his hoverbike.

Not as cool as MDK

Yes, the advertised the SNOT out of it. It was pushed as some sort of savant to platform gaming. Then, it was released, and then

and

happened. We gave it a rent and I remember the electro whipping mechanic and not much else.

I tried playing and eventually stopped from the same reasons from other people here are saying. I'd rather play ew2 anyday

I had the demo disc with this, spyro and MGS, etc and from what I remember it was pretty good. Reminded me of Vectorman some what, didn't find out about the name of the game until a couple days ago ironically. I think I might buy a copy.

Also one of those games that received a Japanese makeover when localised as Wildroid 9.

Mediocre, somehow it gave me a fetish for damaged robots.

It's fun to look at those updated covers, but this one looks like it was done by a westerner in that awkward anime-inspired style from the mid-late nineties; it's pretty embarrassing

Damn fun game. Has that 90's edge gore too.

I had it as one of my first PS1 games. I love the tether mechanic. Since it's a unified mechanic for fighting, platforming, and puzzle solving.

And it has a fun little dark sense of humor to it without coming off as too EDGE.

The marketing people obviously tried that angle; I always thought the TORTURE YOUR ENEMIES callout in the american cover was a bit desperate to get that 13 year old proto-edgelord audience. The euro cover was way too ambiguous though, I didn't give the game a second glance on the Blockbuster shelves until I read it was kind of a 2.5D Earthworm Jim

This. If I didn't played the game before I wouldn't know what it's about by the cover.

Jesus that's definitely no Magical Hoppers.

MDK was the last truly great Shiny game
then they were just stuck running in circles trying to make another revolutionary game while rest of the industry left them behind
