-/v/+/vg/+/vr/ scenarios, rides and save files-
I'm browsing archived RCT threads for scenarios, rides and save files made by fellow anons.
Like I said in an old thread, I'll put them all in their respective RARs. So, if you have any you want to share,
now would be a good time do to so. So far I've only got a few.

On the other hand, I still enjoy RCT like I used to when I was a kid.

Forgot to add; in the -g zone, the force of the speed is higher than the force of gravity

>> No.498426

>>498407

Well, yes, you're accelerating downward with 1g, but you don't actually feel a force. The force you feel is the resistance of whatever's pushing against you, so standing on the floor, you experience 1g since the floor is pushing up against you.

If you are free falling, you are technically experiencing weightlessness (or near enough, since air resistance is exerting a force.)

And when you are being pulled downwards even though your body's motion is upwards, you experience negative gs.

I've been saying this and have been down for this for the last week.

I ask only that there's a large enough selection of custom scenery options and maybe that we all agree on on general, overall theme (since there's a limit to how much scenery can be available)

I would strongly recommend multiple versions of the same scenario though, for example
A. With tons of mechanical and abstract options and related, like dilapidated buildings and walls.
B. Lots of jungle and ruins scenery, wooden buildings and huts, with related rides available.
C. Medieval theme options with castle walls, wooden fences and palisade walls with medieval huts and so on.
D. A full on roaring 20s set with lots of urban turn of the century options and so on.
E. Lots of snow and winter wonderland style scenery.
F. Roman scenery and classical options.
G. Whatever else I've not thought of

Then just have multiple games running at the same time, where people sign up for their favourites and add each other to skype or whatever, passing it back and forth between each other a lot as needed and just slowly build up the park between them.

One rule that I'd have to highly recommend should probably be in place is that you should only sign up for one if you're going to really try and get some nice detailing going for when you're doing your parts. Doing sparse scenery or whatever for your own section of the 3x3 or whatever parks is fine, but if this is all gonna be next to everything else then people will need to put some real effort into it.

Before somebody says they don't know how, just observe other people and steal their ideas to make good looking sections to your park. Before I first tried the collab parks, I'd actually never done anything with scenery before and just went for it, adding more and more stuff while trying new things until I got something that looked good. If I can do it from having never tried before, I don't see why others can't make a real effort too.

What scenario is that?

>> No.505251

Guys, I need some help here, I'm about to pull my hair out. Please.

Is there ANY way to load a pre-made landscape into the scenario editor and then play with the options and create my own scenario without having to create a landscape from scratch everytime?

Basically is what's going on here is that I really love a number of the landscapes in the official scenarios and what to play on them but not be restricted to the scenarios that they are from. For example, I really want to use Gravity Gardens as a place for my new park, but I don't want to be bothered with the dumb "only coasters" restriction, so I figured I would just load the scenario into the editor, change the settings around and then save it as a new scenario. The only problem is this seems to be fucking impossible to do.

Whether I convert a saved game to a scenario, or load a landscape, it immediately jumps to the end of the editor and the only options I have are change the objective and save the scenario. I can't get back to any of the other options that allow to to edit what can be researched or built, etc etc, which is what I really what to do, and I know I managed to this this somehow like 10 years ago so this is frustrating me beyond belief right now.

Can anyone help me out with this at all? What the hell is even the point of being able to load landscapes into the editor if you can't actually do anything with them? Ugh, please help, my nostalgia bug won't allow this to go unresolved.

yeah I tried that but for some reason when I load either a save or a landscape it auto jumps to the last step where you set the objective, name your park, etc and save it and there is no way to go back to the other options. I have the gog version if that makes a difference.

Time limit is unofficially "unlimited" as long as you're trying to improve your (or other) sections of the park with little added details and not just dropping off the grid unannounced to work on a paper for university or something.

Hell, what I'm building for my section now today was taken as majority rules vote, I just put out several ideas and let them choose their favourite one for what I'd go for.

Im going to be blunt ;
After looking through a chunk of the Intermediate and Expert park scenarios, all the Intermediate ones suck.

Mars is spaced out way too much, but it's not as painful as the animatronic, or Jurassic park, both which are spaced out heavily. I'm going to sound totally weeaboo here, but the only one with a good and workable design was Okinawa Coast, and that was under expert.

Really though, >Infograms incharge of scenarios.

One of the rules though is "no custom scenery", plus part of the problem is that there's a limit hard coded into the game for how much scenery you can have available.

Dave here, I made the ride and I was really surprised at the stats too. The scenery around it helps a ton as does the rotodrop through the first series of turns. It screams through the turns super fast though, so the intensity being as low as it is was a pleasant surprise.

I planned it really poorly as well, which is why there's no brakes before the station. If I wanted brakes my coaster would've had to encroach into the neighboring park. I figured since it was only one train a station brakes failure wouldn't be too disastrous.

Excitement maxes out about 1 minute ride time in reference to a 5 minute queue time and a 2, 30 second laps on a similar design produces about 75% of the excitement of a single lap track.

"Scam" karts are a waste of time, waste of guests time in the queue and obviously, a waste of money. They would only be good for fitting into tight spaces, but that's where you would use a swinging inverter ship and get a ton more money doing so.

>>529349
Mazes are a funny thing.

No matter how big they are, no matter how much scenery you put down, whether it's 4 guests or 16 or where the maze is placed, it will always have roughly the same excitement. With this in mind, the most effective maze is a 2x2 maze including the entrance and exit. And mazes should never have more than a single queue tile, or any at all.

Really, the only reason you need them is to fit into spots around paths like a corner or something like a 3x1 straight line. If you are making one yourself, and I really hope you are, a straight line to the end is perfectly sufficient. Having dead ends in a maze is a roadblock in getting guests in and out as fast as possible. If you thought the AI pathfinding was shit, putting them in a maze is like giving calculus to a baby.

With that said, mazes are the smallest and cheapest way to attract guest to your park. If a simple $1 walk though a 4 second dirt patch raises a guest's happiness by a mere 10%, your park rating will be fucking soaring in no time. 0 nausea and the lowest intensity make them arguably one of the best rides in the game.

>> No.529425

>>529379

With all the effort and attention to detail in this game, from what customers like to how ride forces and ratings are calculated ... you'd really think they could've at least made mazes that are too small or too big, a single line or too confusing, have lower ratings (though too big/confusing punishes the player by guests taking forever, so that works out I guess).

And also, I really find it hard to believe Sawyer couldn't have managed to implement better pathing for the guests. Surely there must've been some pathfinding algorythms available beyond "always walk in the direction of the exit"

>I build rather slowly though because I'm pretty focused on detail.
That's like saying that you work too hard when an employer asks what your biggest fault is. The main point of the no border park is super fine detailing and the expense of how long it takes to do.

We've been taking pretty much an entire day for each small part, but as long as the result looks great then it's worth it.

Yeah, maybe pine forest would work better, especially where you have a more gradual incline to the snowy bits. A jungle might work on that big flat green part in the bottom right.

bottom right is just an incomplete part, which will probably be similar to that mid-top or mid-left part. It's progressing slowly

Ok, well I think a swampy jungle would look good in that area anyway. Also, pirate town on the coast and a mining town somewhere along that cliff (I'd say to the left of where that grey bit sticks out)

mine theme is essential to nearly every single map with nature in it lol
as for the coast, i might make it rocky if it looks alright, will add pirates if it will look alright. also thinking about adding some pagodas in upper not snow-covered areas

I'd love to build a woodie into the edge of the bottom-right cliff. Go for a mine theme there

I still have the boardgame. I remember playing it only a few times.

Since we're moving so slow, does anyone want to take a glance at the scenario I whipped up? Looking for constructive criticism. https://www.dropbox.com/s/smgi78a4xr5xo7c/New%20Oakwood%20Springs.SC6

How does the windowed mode hack work for RCT2? I pasted the files in the RCT2 folder but it isn't doing anything.

>> No.530967

Btw, does anyone know a savegame manager that lets me change the scenery I can use? I just realised, I unchecked the scenery with the funny, green goo. Damnit!
