When will we ever get a proper Phantasy Star sequel.

It couldn't be made in todays market.

The closest thing we've gotten to evoke a similar feel story & play wise was Star Ocean: The Last Hope, and that was a financial flop.

>[older Fal and son]
>Settei dreamed up by Yoshida-shi on twelve years after Millennium. The man himself says they're just doodles, but I'd sure like them to come true. [Here's where things get interesting - in the settei, a somewhat older and sadder Fal (sporting a Hunter's uniform and a new haircut - a ragged just-short-of-shoulder-length cut with a Starlights-style ponytail in back) with her *son* Rui (could be "Louie", but I'm assuming his name is a derivative/diminutive of his father's). Rudy isn't pictured. Why? Because he's DEAD. Yep, Shorty, in Yoshida's eyes, never even made it to 30. I can't read all the text next to Fal - small, scribbled characters again - but I can give you the gist of it - after Rudy's death, Fal joined the Hunter's Guild and became its most renowned Hunter. She raises her son on her own, and the bandana she now wears was a bequest from Rudy. Her son, Rui, is eight years old, though, because of his mother's blood, he's growing up a little faster than usual and should reach adulthood at 12 or 13. He's also showing great potential as a Hunter. But, back to Fal now - though the canonity of this is sketchy, I feel so sorry for the dear. The entity that was, in effect, her father, blows himself up, she leaves Forren, the only other person who was like family to her, to stay with Rudy, then he dies early, leaving her to take care of a child and become a brood mare for a new super-race of humans. What a sad fate.]

She's become Alys, and they swapped an onee-san love story for a wincest one.

Dem Nips man.

I don't consider that canon. I need Chaz to be happy. I need it.

The one thing that bugged me when I played it back in 96 was I was fresh off FF3 so I went looking for hidden areas.

There are some buildings & parts of dungeons that look like they might hold something secret, but you couldn't get into them.

There were a couple times I ended up going through walls I shouldn't have been able to, like in the cave system on the island where you find Seth, on Dezoris when you get Elsydeon, and in the caves on the way to Tonoe. There were probably more, but those were the only ones I remember finding.

Also, one time my cartridge bugged out when I turned my Genesis on and I was in that shop on Dezoris where the penguin steals what you buy, but every other line on the screen was blue. It was some buggy shit.

I've had that happen with me with other cartridge games.

Just like how Game Genies were hex editors, each of metal contacts on the cartridge that slotted into the system would wear down over time.

If it was really bad, it could end up with the system calling the wrong hex value from the cartridge, which would lead anything from loading the wrong map, to bugging out max lives, to revealing all the items in metal gear at the start of the game and as you found them, their image would disappear from your inventory screen.

Odds are when it was loading, it ended up calling the hex value for the event that triggers when you walk out of the shop.
