We all know the FF6 river trick to level up, but did you know in THIS steaming pile of crap there's a spot on the very first screen with enemies where you can just tape down the attack button and walk away for a few hours to come back to maxed level and gold?

What other games have totally broken grinding?

Why do people keep playing the SNES version, it's much worse than PC Engine and Megadrive

You could just use the debug mode cheat and enable unlimited health.

Because only people who care more about collecting games rather than playing them own either of those systems.

I actually enjoyed this game and I really enjoy 'grinding' in games so I can be a few levels higher than needed. I leveled up in the waterfall area which is about 3-4 screens from the one you are talking about. I didn't just tape down the button though, I actually timed the attacks and got decent exp from the higher level enemies. I thought it was kind of dumb that you hit max level so quick.

Simcity 4(it runs on Win98, I know because I still had a Win98 PC when it came out) has some small loopholes that trivialize a lot of the game if you use them.
Start a new town, build a single tile of road, enable legalized gambling ordnance, set to maximum speed and auto-budget, then let the game sit for as long as you wish. Come back to riches. This can only be done at the beginning of a town. It can be nice to start off with millions already in the bank.
You can eliminate 50,000ish tons of garbage with a single waste to power plant funded with $1/yr. It will deteriorate quicker, but it will still eliminate full capacity garbage with almost no funding. Build them hidden behind enough trees, and without landfills you can have a garbage free city for barely any money. You can use this with a neighbor deal of garbage for money to generate free cash for your city.

Aerobiz and Aerobiz Supersonic are broken on any Era that lets you use the 747 class planes. It's painfully easy when you have access to them. You just setup flights between New York/Chicago/Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo, set your big plane on them, and get as many fucking slots as possible at those three places. You'll make far more money than your opponents can even hope to. At that point, you just need to force your opponents out of whatever markets you want within the 20 year limit. Even on the hardest difficulty, it's still painfully easy.

PCE version is great for the awful voice acting and terrible script if you want a laugh. But it's still a bad game.

to each their own. I still reccomend new comers plays Ys 1+2 and then skip right on ahead to Ys IV Dawn of Ys on PC-Engine. Bums me out that we never got a overhead Bump system Ys III.

Maybe in Japanese games. Some older western games had decent voice acting like Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle.

I like grinding exp in the graveyard in Zelda 2.

Also not retro, but in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, there were these sand walls that you could go up if you had the mach bike, but would fall back down if you had the acro bike. The game was programmed such that moving up the sand wall and falling back down counted as a step, and the Pokemon breeder would give your pokemon 1 experience point per step you took in-game. The breeder shop was close by to the area with the sand walls, so you could very easily put a pokemon in the daycare, equip the acro bike, find a sand wall, stand in front of it, and then tape your Up button down on the d-pad, and leave it overnight for EZ leveling. I did that a lot for raising certain pokedex mons that I didn't want to actually train to their required evolutionary level. You could also break the game hardcore if you wanted to not try through the main game, I think the area is open to you really early on IIRC.

I've played through every single rendition of Wanderers that exists. They are all fucking garbage. The only redeeming factor is the music and that only applies to a couple of versions. Thank god for Felghana.

Does Ruby and Sapphire have an obedience system like R/G/B?

>> No.5167468

>>5167462
All the games have obedience, but in every single game it only applies to traded pokemon, not pokemon with your OT. The game might say "obeys up to level 30, this even includes those you get in a trade" but that's a lie, obedience is never an issue for your own pokemon.
You could trade some early route pokemon to another game, level it to 70, and use it against the first gym after trading it back without issue.

Why would a snes collector play games?

Usually they are trying to collecting terrible games at garage sales which takes up far too much of their time.

>> No.5168612

>>5167486
oh yeah, that's smart, I never thought of that, probably because the palace statue freaks me out. I remember doing the graveyard because of how often the werewolves drop bags.

>>5167468
You sure about that? Pretty sure that back when I played Red Version, you leveled a dude above your badge level and you couldn't get it to do anything for you. I ran into it because I was the typical kid with only a starter that knew all fire moves.
