Couch multiplayer. We still played it in college over a decade ago. Add some beer and get four players on the Atari VCS version and yeah, it's still a hell of a lot of fun to play, but I prefer Warlords myself.

It’s primitive but fun as hell, something I can’t say for an odyssey or atari 2600 game

>Not for Atari 2600
>Video Olympics
>Literally Pong with 50 variations
Man, you really know what you're talking about. I'm willing to bet you've never played either of those systems.

Why wouldn't it be even today? Concepts don't age. It's the essential kind of a competitive tennis game. Everything else is pretty much just bling, you could render the ball with 200000 polygons and give the game a photorealistic look of the paddles with textures anc and a detailed background- but you would at the core still play the same game. Bet a friend and it still is a blast. All it's missing is a bit more sound, just the *blip* has these quiet pauses inbetween. But otherwise...

I grew up when this was the only game to play. When Breakout came out it was like a fucking revolution.

You're supposed to be playing against a human, anon. It's not about the game, it's about the competition.

I remember a four player game called Paddle Derby. It had side controllers for each player. Pretty neat thing.

Yeah it's fun, it just gives you that kind of giddy excitement like Tennis for the NES does
