Doesn't even look as good as Star Road, let alone the base game. Parts of it seem OK from a gameplay perspective, but the aesthetic is wrong, it feels more like Galaxy's ambiance shoved into 64.

Yeah, the aesthetic is all over place and the nauseating MIDI conversions from 100 different games blasting in your ears doesn't help. Star Road aesthetically looks a lot better but is much blander in level design and mechanics, its sequel was looking good until the author went full retard and moved it to SM64DS. Both are very flawed in their own romhacky ways but decent wastes of time.

Wish there was more N64 shit that runs on hardware, Project64 is a real piece of shit and puts me off ever revisiting hacks like these, I love getting fatal memory errors halfway through a stage.

Would love a mario 64 golden-eye mod . I know one exists as a fps but imagine one were you're miniature and the enemies are giant, you literately have to stealth through or dodge the bullets with your flips. Some highlights would include

It's an indicator of one of two things - the entire thing being a vanity project catered to the tastes of the author or the music being a complete afterthought. Neither thing is particularly good to see in a hack/game, rare as it is it's always good to see ones that feature original music. Sonic fangames are generally good for this, probably because music tends to be seen as more important there.
