There's plenty of love for PC shooters here, but a lot of other people only had a console to get their shooter fix. Itt: we discuss
>Turok 2
>Goldeneye
>Perfect Dark
>Doom 64
>Powerslave
>Medal of Honor Underground
>Zero Tolerance
>South Park
>Faceball 2000
>anything else that comes to mind as long as it's a FPS on a /vr/ console

Ports of PC games are fine too.

I'll start by posting a game that deserves at least a bit of recognition: Hybrid for PS1. It's like i am the only faggot on this board that actually played it.
Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ5nkqb7aKU go straight to 3:28 if you want to see the gameplay; it's your average retro console shooter, with secrets, dark space stations, fancy weapons and so on. I liked it a lot.

Pre-7th gen console FPS games are like PC platformers. What's the point? They're all seriously terrible. I mena, I'm nostalgic for Zero Tolerance like anyone else, but it was god-awful compared to what PC kids were playing at the time in the genre.

>implying that Powerslave for PC is better than Powerslave for PS1
get a load of this faggot; and no, i'm not nostalgic. I tried and finished said game for console only a couple months ago and i was literally stunned when seeing how different it was and most importantly, better. PC version is very good too but it's your average build game.

That's not the point. Powerslave is still inferior to the fucking Duke et al.

Nah man, it's you missing the point. I know very well that the likes of Blood and Duke are better, but that doesn't mean that there aren't exceptions to the rule. There are /vr/-FPS that worked great on console, period. If you don't think so than there's the usual Doom thread where you can stick to, and even there, there's people that think Doom 64, Quake 2 for N64, Final Doom for PS1 and so on are their own experience worth of playing.

Either version of Powerslave is completely different from Duke though and doesn't even try to be the same thing.

People fail to realize how amazing the Saturn version of Powerslave was for its time.

A true 3D FPS running smoothly on Saturn, with the kind of level design philosophy Quake had (3D layouts and architecture)... while being developed at the same time as Quake.

The only thing the game doesn't have is 3D models for enemies and weapons, mostly due to the fact they were reusing assets from the (nearly finished) PC version of the game. They did end up putting 3D enemy models in their engine with their port of Quake.

That's why I'm comparing them to PC platformers (as opposed to console platformers). There were FPS games on consoles that were kinda fun if you've never played a single real PC FPS in your fucking life--but tha'ts the extent of it. If you've played any real FPS games, even the best console FPSs were a joke.
Same goes for, say, RTS games or point-and-clicks. Sure, there's Cosmic Spacehead and a shit, but man, it's still a joke compared to the real stuff.

Hello. FFVIII has a hilariously bad story and gameplay works against itself. FFIX's Freya was of course never supposed to be "Flyer", you fucking imbecile.

Captain Claw and Jazz Jackrabbit 2 are top tier.

I have no idea what you're talking about. You must have been trolled by one of the numerous imposters who have been trying to make me stop using this name for 12 years now.

Possibly controversial opinion: Goldeneye and perfect dark are greatly improved by use of a mouse+keyboard (using mouselook).
t. played 100 hours of goldeneye and >1000 hours of perfect dark on console back in the day.

I love the Slavedriver engine.
Quake is great despite lagging from times to times. The exclusive secret levels made by Lobotomy alone make the version worth it

Quake II on the PlayStation was a great port, especially the multiplayer.

Have you ever actually played Powerslave for console? It's an incredible game.
