The graphics and music are wonderful and surreal but I've always felt the gameplay was a bit on the floaty side, and the camera can be frustrating sometimes, especially during the first boss battle in PD1 and the forest chase in PDZ.

Which controller are you using? Hope you have a 3D controller since the game makes very good use of it.

I love these games (especially Zwei, masterpiece), but I feel the dragon's hitbox is hard to grasp, sometimes I think I can dodge something, but I end up getting hit anyway, despite it not looking like a direct hit.
Most of the times I'm fine with the camera, I think the idea of the forest level is to make you dizzy with enemies coming from all flanks, but using the radar you can taken them all down. Things get a bit messy when the Nagas appear though.

I've always thought the controls in Perfect Dark were just fine.

I unironically prefer playing these games with the D-pad, not the 3D controller.

Even Saga? It makes selecting things with the cursor easier.

You can just use the D-pad on the 3D controller, since they're exactly the same but the 3D pads are all made in Japan and not China (meaning they are the superior pad for the Saturn and all you ever need).

Quick question: I have a little problem emulating this game (I'm using the real game disc, but I'd like to stream it for friends, hence the emulation), the game is working perfectly BUT the health bar doesn't appear!

What do?

What emulator are you using? You could try another one.

PD doesn't get extra functionality with the 3D pad. It was a launch title, after all.

I'm using SSF, but Saturn emulation is so weird that I don't really dare to investigate.

PD games weren't even promoted to be used with the 3D pad, but with the Mission Stick.
I just prefer the good ol' model 2 Saturn pad though.

I recently played 1, 2 and saga through mednafen and they seemed to work flawlessly. The current builds don't use physical discs, though, and I'm unsure if the last build that did support them played the games well.

Are these games worth playing in English vs Japanese? Will I miss anything if I can't read moon runes?

They're all translated. Just emulate.

I don't even remember there being any text in Panzer Dragoon at all.

Always feels good to tear the Nagas a new one. My mess tends to be the chasers as the Nagas take priority.

I'm really wary about mednafen because I couldn't get to use the pc-fx, but I'll give it a try.

Yeah it feels like you're flying on a dragon or something
