I just beat the first medievil game, it was a pretty fun game.
How's the sequel? I never see anyone talk about it

I've never played it but I really want to.
I love the first game, because of the atmosphere and a lot of nostalgia, and humorous.
Plus it was even spooky sometimes, Zarok creeped me out as a kid. Are you playing them on the original console?

i played it on a psp, didn't had too much problems with the control layout or anything like that, it was a smooth experience.

They were pretty bold with the change of setting, which is the only really positive thing I remember about it. Overall I think it's a less enjoyable experience, or less "comfy" if that even means anything anymore; you could say it's more challenging I guess, but I'm not sure if in a good way.

If you just played the first one for the first time, I'm actually interested in what you'll think about this one if you're playing it back-to-back, so do report back (I'm pretty sure I'm not being objective about it since I played each as they came out and my expectations for the second one were too high)

Hell yeah my guy.
I have them on my PSP and I have the original on my PS3. I might actually play them back to back because of this thread. I know the second game takes place in a later time period.
Give it a shot dude. I hope the remaster is still going to happen

weirdly enough i only found the sequel and never the first game so i cant really tell if it compares good.
had a lot of fun levels and interesting bosses but there was this small ghost man NPC who follows you around for a bit in the first level who can get on your nerves. it also feels like sort of a short game.
had a banging hot mummy waifu though.

Medievil? More like Mediocre. PSX had a shit tier library, which is why we have to pretend middling tier nonsense like Medievil is a classic.

MediEvil II is not as good as the predecessor because the latter set the hype way too high just as he said >>5103727 . But replaying it today, unbiased, it's quite outstanding on it's own: some exceptionally enjoyable moments and overall good experience. I suggest it because is a fair sequel. (And the soundtrack is a blast on that too!).

Making the health fountains not respawn in the sequel was a dick move; dammit I just want to explore and have fun, not repeat every stage over and over until I git gud and minimize damage and can finally save and move on and hope to reach the last boss with any chances of winning

MediEvil 1 was better. 2 is tighter mechanically, but the art style quality dropped and spooky atmosphere is replaced woth camp.
It does have its moments, though.

ME1 is more magical tale kind of story, kinda more creepy and dark.
ME2 is more horror steampunk, less creepy because of side characters that brighten the mood and make you feel less lonely than in ME1.
That said more imaginative and some stuff is still fairly dark.

I remember having same concerns as you but after messing around long enough I still had enough fountains and health, not only that but the last boss is not particularly difficult anyway.

He is, but he's probably not experiencing it in a way that maximizes its design choices. I'm in the process of a Master Ninja run of Tenchu: Stealth Assassins, but I'm not going to gripe if someone wants to cheat to play around with all the master ninja items.

In M1 the fountains and small vials respawn when you re-enter any level, but in M2 only the vials do. In both games health carries over between levels and you need to get to the exit to save and get back to the map, so refilling your bottles in M2 takes an impractical amount of time and you're better off retrying each new level and not saving until you manage to clear it taking as little damage as possible.

Medievil 2 is a lot better than 1 mechanically speaking, Dan controls much better, the weapons feel better and there's a lot of campy stuff like a steampunk chaingun, lots of minigames too and some decent puzzle and platforming sessions, the bosses are all great too and so are the levels, which you can also explore by putting Dan's head on the usual hands you can find around.

Coming from Medievil 1 however you lose all the spooky atmosphere, Medievil 2 is a lot more comedic in nature as it's a big parody of the victorian era england and London in general, which is great mind you, especially the part where you dress up Dan like a gentleman coupled with top hat and fake mustache you got from robbing a dead man's grave, it also takes the piss of a lot of horror classics like Jack the Ripper, Frankenstein and Dracula and it's done fairly well too, but again, if you loved the genuinely spooky atmosphere of 1 you'll find nothing like that in 2.

It's great game, and a worthy successor to 1 but it's also very different in atmosphere for better or worse, you should play it and see for yourself.
