Why are these fucking mini machines so popular?

Get some fucking computer skills and build your own emulation station if that is what you want to do.

You're just playing into corporation's hands making you a live to their Jewy money grabbing ways when you buy this because you want to play games that are freely available online "legally."

Zero barrier to entry.

Your average person doesn't know about emulators. Your average person doesn't know you can download the entire library of a consoles games in under an hour.

Your average person barely plays games. This is targeted at 30-something year old dads who remember playing Final Fantasy 7 when they were kids and think it would be cool to play with their kid.

Roms will be readily available forever. Just think of how many people have entire libraries downloaded and backed up. Also you're not buying just the roms, you get the hardware, the controllers, and it's all ready to play immediately out of the box. I hate entitled people like you, you think you have some sort of right to have the games for free, and you don't just stop there and enjoy the games, you call those who are willing to pay for them idiots. I don't even own a single mini, your attitude just disgusts me.

I own a PS1 with all the 5 games listed so far physically, I have hacked my PSP, Vita, and PSTV and put many psx iso's on them. My PC can upscale PSX games to 1080p and run faster than normally possible.

Yet...I still bought this thing. It's almost like people want a well made product that offers the authentic feel. Strange I know.

Easy dose of nostalgia for normalfags to burn some of their disposable income on. The whole point isn't to actually appeal to people into video games, because those kinds of people either already have their original PS1/games or will just emulate for free. The only exception would be those full-retard autistic collectorfags who just buy shit to have it, and will buy a NES/SNES/PS1 classic despite also having the complete libraries of all these systems.

No, the whole point of this is so that the 30yo boomer sees an ad on youtube for a playstation classic and says to himself "yep, crash was a good game" and then decides to buy it on a whim. He'll then probably play around with it for a little while remembering those games, and then chuck it in the closet within a month. It's a novelty.

Psst!!! Anon, c’mere! I have a secret to tell you, come in close. Ok...

Look, all of us here know about emulation, ok? But normies, they don’t, they don’t into computers. Every time their laptop crashes because they had too many windows of zuckbook and tw*tter open at a time, they think they have a virus. These minis aren’t made for us ok? They are made for people who don’t into computers. This is a simple plug and play option for those tech illiterate types. Just let them have their fun and enjoy their 20 games. While the rest of us have our massive libraries.

Seriously OP, why do you care? Not like you’ll be buying it anyway. Let other people play games the way they want. Stop being a cry baby.

As far as the PS1 goes, I already have a modded PS2 with every game I'd ever want to play on the hard drive. And you can get the black controllers without analogue sticks to boot. I don't think it's stupid to get them, but idk I just don't need this like I needed the NES/SNES mini.

The issue is psychotic collectors who think 20 games isn't enough, and think that it HAS to be their personal top 80 favs and cost $40 or less, or it's a no buy.
It's delusional, because you'd drop more than $100 on the console, an extra controller, 2 memory cards and 20 games, let alone the average collector's list. Which would probably be:

>FFVII
>FFIX
>FF Tactics
>Crash
>Crash 2
>Crash 3
>MGS
>SOTN
>Xenogears
>Grandia
>Legend of Dragoon
>Resident Evil
>Resident Evil 2
>Resident Evil 3
>Silent Hill
>Parasite Eve
>R4
>Persona
>Persona 2
>Dragonwarrior VII
>Megaman Legends
>Megaman Legends 2
>Misadventures of Tron Bonne
>Wild Arms 2
>Breath of fire 3

Which would cost 100's of dollars to round up in original disc format. But even if given that exact set, they'd bitch because there'd be that one game that didn't make it in.

So rather than please these asshats, Sony is going for an audience who just wants a fun toy to play with. Which is what we're talking about here. It's not a collector's item, it's a fucking toy.

If it burns your ass as a collectorfag THAT bad, then just don't pay attention. Let the kids olay with their toys, and go on spe ding hundreds on your collectibles.

My case:
These fuckers (Sony/Nintendo) ripped us off as kids, tricked us into buying shit games at a time when our brains were slightly more advanced than a Golden Retriever.

Then the GameStop-types ripped us off by tricking us to trade in our most valuable used games without our parents knowledge (b.c parents realized what a scam it is).

Now we're older, and they tell us that JUST to play their 20 year old game I have to buy it bundled with 80 other games and packaged in a Plastic case which is entirely cosmetic!?!

I got into emulating when they started making these retro consoles, I wanted to buy one and saw the feeding frenzy that was Nintendo supply shortages and shitshow of Craiglist resellers thinking they could get $200 bucks for a glorified piece of plastic, mocking you when you were ONLY willing to pay $30 above retail price.

With no plans to update or enhance the preinstalled games, there's no reason for Sony to keep the OS as """open""" as the normal psv/pstv-OS.
