Hasn't this been the general consensus for the last 30 years though? Genesis had Sonic and Streets of Rage, that's literally it. But I guess that's already a step up from Mega Drive that literally had no good games on it.

Sonic just happened to attract a weird crowd around it, the kids who played it are now sitting in their basements jerking off to rule34 pics of Tails fucking Knuckles or something. This audience kept Sega going for awhile to make Saturn and Dreamcast, but apparently such niche furfag crowd wasn't large enough to keep it profitable so they had to stop making consoles.

PS1 had as many great games as the N64 even if you strike every single JRPG. But then, if we're saying platformers suck too, I don't know how the N64 is supposed to be great...?

I've seen a lot of anti-NES posts lately and I don't know why. There's a fuckton of excellent games for the system, and yes by virtue of volume there's a lot of mediocre/bad games too, so just don't play the bad one. It's not 1987 anymore, you don't have to go off the box art and hope for the best.
