Blood 2 can be a very pretty game btw. Nice lighting, colourful, really nice colour palette. They really shouldn't have rushed it out and should have given it a proper development cycle, instead of just crapping it out after finishing the engine.

Why do quakers jump like retards while in combat? Air control of movement is weaker than ground control, therefore air movement is incomparably more predictable than movement while in contact with the ground, which makes prediction shots way easier for mid-air targets. Jumping around, you only benefit against shotgun and railgun pretty much.

Not true. He's bound by the exact same physics the enemies are and he too will be exploded for miles if he dies. This is most easily seen in multiplayer. However he has more HP than in-game enemies, which is pretty much the same thing in every game. It's impressive how you manage to get literally everything you say wrong.

>fanservise-y.
This doesn't even make sense since Blood was an original IP and there were no fan expectations/wishes for its release. Try to at least use correct terms for your pretentious asspulls.

I believe the quake engine had an trick called 'bunny hopping'. Basically, if yo strafed and jumped at the same time, you'd speed up slightly and if you jumped immedietly after touching the ground, the friction that was supposed to slow you down didn't activate, allowing you to continue the jump+strafe speed up until you were moving at a ridiculous speed. This carried over into Half-life's goldsrc engine based on the quake engine, i remember people doing it all the time in TFC.

Im speaking from my experience with the goldsrc engine, where i learned how to do the bunny hopping trick. Quake was my first fps, so i didn't really know how to do anything masterful back when i played it. I just assumed it was the same thing since the goldsrc engine was heavily based on Quake's engine. So don't take my word for it.

Ok, I'll let you have that point for the time being. What about shotgun kickbacks - in case of both enemies and the player?

And, also, Blood is a genre work (Doom-like FPS, and Build game to boot), inspired by other genre works (80s horrors), so there were plenty of expectations to pander to.

Also, you DO understand that I iterate upon my opinions and build my terminology during that process, yes? It appears that I may have an issue with Blood's physics as a whole, so that it might take a '"tad'" more work to determine a particular aspect of it I dislike and to say "this, right here, is pure bullshit" - than to just single out a particular consequence of this general aspect, as in "the way bodies fly after explosions looks insultingly cheap". I'll get to it though, and I'll get to the bottom of what irks me about this game in general and its kinaesthetics in particular EVENTUALLY, but it won't happen overnight, since, first, this is quite difficult however you look at it, second, I have loads of other stuff to concern myself with.

>> No.5086348

>>5086270
>What about shotgun kickbacks - in case of both enemies and the player?
The effect of the shotgun on the player is the same while Caleb is alive. It merely pushes upon the player, just like your shotgun pushes upon the cultists. You can't blow a cultist away for miles while he's alive; it only affects his death animation. When Caleb dies the camera goes red and he looks to the ground, but the actual physics while you're alive are the same. Anyway this is autism, which is what happens whenever someone bothers to engage you.

I stopped reading after that line because I've hated every single post I've ever read from you and I legitimately think you're the biggest shitter and worst poster I've ever come across in all my years on 4chan. Literally everything you say is wrong, every map you hate is good, the one 'obscure' mapset I've tried that you recommended was an absolute turd, it's obvious that you absolutely suck at FPS and fuck me you write like a fruitcake. I've honestly never encountered such a gigantic pretentious dumbass in my life and I hope you die of leukemia asap so you can stop polluting this board with your utterly horrible and useless """""insights""""" (as you like to put it). Because if the corpse is affected differently than an enemy this is a corpse of. Like, for example, if the corpse suddenly becomes 10 times less heavy, than the corresponding enemy, so that it would fly better. Then this is cheap fanservice pure and simple. Which is, ironically, my initial point.

Nah, that's AS_Oilrig. Counterstrike had two other game modes that were rarely played. Assassination and Escape.

Assassination, the CT's had to escort a lightly armed VIP to an escape zone. VIP could only carry the starting pistol and one extra clip, had 200 armor, but didn't really help much. Oilrig was the only AS map i ever saw on any servers.

In Escape, the goal was for at least 50% of the terrorist team to make it to an exit and the CT's had to stop them. Sounds heavily in the T's favor, but they weren't allowed buy weapons, they had to break into caches and steal whatever was available inside.

Father was a nuclear physicist.
He used the Amiga for SPICE simulation along with neutrino simulation. The AMIGA 2000 he had also had a 12mb HDD, 4 floppy drives and a 68040 with an FPU. Shit was cash in 1992-8. Shit got interesting with Fusion in '96 as you could run a 68k mac (quadra 950) faster than the real thing, Marathon and Duke3d was bitchin'.

Dad told me consoles where a waste of money. Looking back on it he was right.

Now I'm a BSEE in SMPS design. Still use the Amiga 2000 for circuit simulation with that $12k piece of software.

You're entitled to your opinion.
I didn't spend any money on consoles. I used that money (that would've been wasted) to buy books to learn analog electronic design. I can also run most of the console games worth a damn from a computer and make money designing on a computer.
A console gives you only one choice, playing games.
