What 20 DOS games would you add to a 486 Classic?

Remember no Windows titles. Anyone who lists The Oregon Trail will immediately have their opinion invalidated.

I think a "486 Classic" would serve two purposes: Give players a medley of different game genres, as well as serve as a crash course on the platform.

ACTION:
* Doom and Doom 2 - Changed gaming forever, probably on par with Arcade Donkey Kong in terms of influence (both 1 and 2 would count as one game imo)
* Jazz Jackrabbit - Very fast, very smooth gameplay
* Tyrian - Gorgeous shoot-em-up game
* One Must Fall 2097 - OMF 2097 isn't the most popular game by a long shot, and it's not perfect, but dammit we need a fighting game in this bundle
* Wacky Wheels - Kart racing game. Again, not the absolute best of the mid-90s PC scene, bit I'd feel remiss to leave it out

STRATEGY:
* X-Com: UFO Defense - Highly regarded as one of the best strategy games of all time
* Dune 2 - Invented the RTS
* Command and Conquer - Popularized the RTS
* Warcraft: Orcs and Humans - Starting point of arguably the most popular video game franchise worldwide, next to The Sims
* Civilization - Incredibly influential 4X game

SIMS:
* System Shock - Birthed the "Immersive Sim" genre
* SimCity 2000 - Something familiar to everybody as a mid-90s PC game, even if it's not something they actually played
* Wing Commander III - Representative of flight and space sims, excellent fun, and it's got Mark Hamill in it
* Frontier: Elite II - The Star Trek to Wing Commander's Star Wars, more intellectual and less bombastic
* Transport Tycoon Deluxe - Business Management at arguably its finest

QUESTS:
* Kings Quest VI - A high point for the series and an excellent example of the adventure gaming genre, something very popular on the IBM machines
* The Secret of Monkey Island - Same as above, but with a different tone
* The Elder Scrolls: Arena - Beginning point for the massively popular franchise
* Ultima Underworld - Incredibly influential and widely acclaimed RPG
* Wasteland - Older than the rest of the games on this list, perhaps, but no less important

I ran out of space but I want to point out that this list is just my >opinion so feel free to comment on it and tell me how much of a fuckin moron I am. I am certain I left important things out but 20 titles really feels like a very small number. I wanted desperately to put Keen, Duke Nukem, Megarace, Falcon, and some others in but I felt as if they were somewhat superfluous

I dont know.. this is a good question. I dont even know what a 486 classic is (i would guess that it just means the golden age of 486 toward the 3/4's end of the dos golden age? I'm a 38 year old white guy that grew up with retro gaming but i never had a 486 before 1999...

About 6 months ago i set up dosbox and have downloaded a shit ton of games so i'll try to contribute...

I noticed a lot of people here have mentioned late DOS games, thats why i asked about the 486, i guess that just means a modern intel chip post 1992ish???

-Descent 1 & 2 (Probably the best DOS games ever created)

-Diablo

-Sim City 1-3000

-the Doom series

-Wolfenstien

-Hexen (This game, 1 and 2, is indescribably good.. i'm pretty sure that the original creators/writers which was Raven, put a fuck load of creativity and time into this game and its story.. it has an awesome story.. Have you ever read those cheap ass stories and it seemed like it was made by an angry Japanese guy begrudgingly? Well this game is similar, but its like that guy was on acid and kind of happy.. its really imaginative.. theres nothing like it)

-Heretic

Awesome games...

I'm imagining this as a downloadable package for those looking to learn more about mid-90s PC gaming. To that end, I made the list at >>5065819 for two reasons: To provide a "greatest hits" for the time period, as well as a general combination of different game genres.

We had an AST 486 when I was a kid. All I can think of are Apogee games and Doom. I guess Epic stuff like Jill of the Jungle and the Pinballs. That weird Thor game in which you collect golden apples, um...Jazz Jackrabbit maybe? Lucasarts dominated my time back then.

Let's go with Multimedia PC:

In 1993, an MPC Level 2 minimum standard was announced:

25 MHz 486SX CPU
4 MB RAM
160 MB hard disk
16-bit color, 640×480 VGA video card
2× (double speed) CD-ROM drive using no more than 40% of CPU to read at 1x, with < 400 ms seek time
Sound card outputting 44 kHz, 16-bit CD quality sound.
Windows 3.0 with Multimedia Extensions, or Windows 3.1.
