They bought it to gobble up to competition, not for a single IP.

Microsoft thought they were buying Donkey Kong? I can't see how that would happen. To be sure there are lots of copyright lawyers at Microsoft very familiar with the fine details of every little thing they do. I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt that you're not dumb enough to think it was just an exec at Microsoft who assumed that Rare owned DK because of DKC and then after the monumental buyout Nintendo turned around and said "psyche, DK was never theirs".

I still own my N64, as many do. I am more interested in the controllers.
IF they would be compatible directly with the original release I would be ecstatic. I will go out and buy 6-8 of them. If not, I will be buying one to tear it apart to check out the Analog, and IF it is even close to a replacement. I got this guess they switched to some cheap electronic pots. The N64 controller has the best stick that I have ever used, and it would be a shame to not replicate it as best as possible.

I am particular about controllers, and can't bring myself to do ebay for them. Every controller I bought was sold as "stick is tight" or whatever. I found an orange one a few years back, and "Stick is tight"....it fell out of the controller during shipping because it was wore down so bad. I have repaired a few with rebuilding the bottom cup where it wears out. Finding 1:1 replacement parts is tricky. I find it really odd that no one has made a direct drop in out of plastic....I see a few rumors of metal ones, but that is not what I want.

If this is an accurate list, then I expect there to be 20 games total. I just don't expect Nintendo to release 19 on this while Sony releases 20 games on their PS1 mini. I bet Nintendo does have one surprise title not listed here.

This is a solid list of games, but they really need an FPS on there somewhere.

Donkey Kong 64, Majora's Mask, Zelda OOT, Paper Mario, Sin and Punishment and Mario Party 2 are all 32MB cartridges Those games probably make up about 128MB's total.

Star Fox 64, Kirby 64, Pokemon Snap, 1080 Snowboarding, Mario Tennis and Mario Golf are 16MB cartridges. I would guess around 96MB for all of those.

The rest are about 8 to 10MB's in size. Mario 64, Wave Race 64 and Bomberman 64 are all 8MB catridges. Yoshi's Story is a 10MB catridge. That's got to be another 40MB's.

I'm guessing that there is about 264MB's total here. But I could be wrong without knowing exact ROM sizes.

Actually if all these are Wii VC games, I wouldn't be surprised if they had literally just repackaged the virtual console. But also going by that and the fact the N64 is always hard to emulate adding games will probably be quite hit and miss.

You still can not emulate Donkey Kong 64 CORRECTLY even in 2018.
So how will the N64 Mini do it? What emulator will it use? NES and SNES are easy to emulate, everyone can do it but N64 is still hard even today. So did they just patch Donkey Kong 64 step by step to get it working 100% or did they build THE MOST AMAZING Emulator for N64 out there and we can hack this thing and play every N64 game properly? Not that I would want to because N64 isn't retro for me anymore. Shitty 3d ruined video games.

yeah they already sold it for something like $10 on the Wii U, why the everliving shit this idea of perfect emulation is coming up is beyond me. It isn't possible with the N64. Maybe if the world was going to end they could make a supercomputer that simulated all the chips or something, but forget it, they there is no reason for them to do that sort of thing.
