Probally Super Mario Brothers. I was alive through the late 70s and into the 80s. I remember being able to download and play these games via emulation sometime in the mid 90s. I never much cared for it, and stuck with real systems and tvs.

>> No.5051347

It may not have been the absolute first, but the one I remember as my "first" was BS F-Zero 2 on ZSNES. My cousin told me about this thing called "emulation" and I didn't know what the hell he was talking about.

Final Fantasy III for NES. Emulator was Nesticle. Must’ve been around February 2003.

Fucked if I remember. I'm sure it was in 97 or 98, though, after a friend introduced me to Brad Levicoff(sp?) of Zophar.net. Whatever it was, it was either something on ZSNES, Nesticle or Genecyst, back when the emulators were incomplete due to lack of sound, incorrect handling of transparencies etc.
In mid 98, I brought a few floppies with emulators and roms on them to school using a split self-executing rar archive, copied them onto several of the computers in class and the library and ran the exe so I could covertly play games in class.
I know the first game I downloaded for myself was Soldier Blade for TG16 and was incredibly pissed that Magic Engine had a time limit of five minutes before it would cut out and tell you to buy the full version. Nigger, if I wanted to spend money, why wouldn't I just get the real thing?

>>5051538
>>5051109
I beat it at work. I ran an after school thing for young kids at a local library, helping them with homework and showing them and their parents how to computer. However, I spent most of my time playing FFV and downloading MP3s. Good gig cuz despite it being a paying job, it counted towards my graduation required community service. : )

I can't remember. I know it was on Windows 95 before Windows 98 though. I played a ton of games with a DOS only gamepad that stopped working when 98 launched. Literally the only downfall to 98 over 95.

The controller I got to replace it was leagues better and I used until those Radioshack ps1/ps2 controller adapters became the norm.

There was a guy that went door to door with cd-r burns of hundreds of games and emulators on a single 700mb burnt disk. He asked for $5 per cd-r. My dad bought one and it actually was legit full of hundreds of cart based games, but not N64 or Neo Geo. He also went around with binders full of Dreamcast games for $50, which I still actually have mine. I feel like lots of people had some random local postings from 2000-2005 or so for "loads of CHEAP games for your pc" on craigslist or some shit.

Anyway.....

He ended up attempting to rape a woman after getting jail time for selling illegal goods. She shot him in his bladder and it was rumored he lost the ability to have kids or get hard depending on who you ask. So, he hung himself behind the local Blockbuster. lmao. I still laugh years later, considering our neighborhood was all high class and shit, that stuff never happened.

When I was real little, my brother modded my Xbox. I played a lot of games on there, but I didn't know what emulation even was then. The first I played was probably The Legend of Zelda.

When I actually figured out what emulation was and decided to try it out, the first game I tried was Star Fox. On ZSNES.

Used a search engine that doesn't exist anymore and I can't even remember the name of to search for things I liked. Zelda was on the of the first things I searched for. Which led me to a Zelda fansite that had a page dedicated to emulation complete with downloads for emulators and ROMs. Within an hour of going online for the first time, I was playing LttP emulated.

I remember when I discovered emulation. Some fat black kid showed me, and we played a bunch of shit in the library. Shit, I don't know.

I have vague memories of my brother showing me Pokemon Emerald before it was even out in the UK and was stunned because you could play Pokemon on the computer.

I didn't really have access to my own computer until 2009, but I do remember playing Pokemon Red/Blue and Gold/Silver on my DS via Lameboy, so I'm sure it was that.

I also have a recollection of playing OOT on my Laptop using a PS1 controller with no analogue sticks. It worked quite well to be honest and I got to the final dungeon but lost my save, never had any problems with it and was able to assign all the buttons as well.

Xevious; around 1998 - 2000. It was on a shareware CD from (i think) Wizardworks, running in an extremely early MS-DOS build of MAME. That was my intro to emulation as a concept; Mario on Nesticle and Super Metroid on ZSnes followed shortly thereafter.

I only had aol dialup at the time but I think the first emulated games I played a fair amount were FF1-3 on the Nesticle. I believe this was around 2001-2002.

The summer after I spent a lot of time at my grandparents, which they had broadband and a better computer, so I went to ArchNacho's and Tortilla Godzilla's websites where they had game reviews of roms on the SNES. I then downloaded a bunch of RPGs for the system, like FF4, FF5, Bahamut Lagoon, Live a Live, SD3, and a bunch of others I can't think of atm, and spent a whole bunch of time playing through them during that summer. Good times

First ever emulated: Tales of Eternia on Bleem.

First ever emulated AND played all the way through: Chrono Trigger via SNES emulator (don't remember the name, but I think that one was based on either SNES9X or ZSnes) on a Dreamcast. Yes, really. I'm shitting you not. There was a SNES emulator on Dreamcast, which played Offspring's tracks in the background (GIVE IT TO ME BABY, UH-HUH, UH-HUH!) while navigating through the menu/GUI. FPS was pretty bad, but game played pretty well accuracy/stability-wise.

First ever emulated AND played all the way through WHILE fully enjoying the play-through with FULL effects and FULL speed: Phantasy Star II on KGEN '98 (yes, THAT one, THE ONLY existing emulator in the entire history of global emulation scene's existence which absolutely 100% PERFECTLY emulates Genesis'/MegaDrive's Yamaha sound. Even though both KGEN and Fusion were created by the legendary GOD that is Steve Snake, ONLY KGEN '98 is able to ABSOLUTELY ACCURATELY 1-to-1 emulate Genesis'/MegaDrive's Yamaha. Fusion can NOT do it 100% perfectly, for some bizarre reason)
