what are some other games like this? I mean like surreal, weird, abstract, cryptic etc etc. I know about Eastern Mind and Yume Nikki, but what else? and what does /vr/ think of it?

It's certainly interesting, but calling it a game feels like a bit of a stretch sometimes. I often play it just wandering around trying to understand cause and effect in different parts of the game, and it's surprising how illogical some of the game seems.
Another game I've completed recently that gives something of that experience/tour feel is Iblard Laputa no Kaeru Machi. It's a bit more interactive with puzzles, but you can complete it without needing to be able to read the text.

Weird ass grotesque pinball game. Made by a Japanese born Special FX artists that worked on 80's action/horror/thriller films, including Predator and the Nightmare on Elm Street films. I believe he is also the one that created Slipknot's iconic masks as well.

I cannot remember name, but I remember traveling to "Death" station, and there was absolutely nothing, black endless void.

Does anyone remember name for it?

This is a fast paced puzzle game not an exploration or abstract "experience" type game in case anyone decides to play it. The art is still trippy/90s weird though and it's not a bad game either so it is a good addition

Plus it was a launch title people were excited for and was on early demo discs so it's sort of a part of PS history

There's a number of factors. Early 3D was ideal for a certain kind of creepiness, there's lots of nip games that didn't make it here so they seem more obscure to us, the console was incredibly succesful so the number of games was enormous and maybe there was a fad of horror/creepy stuff in Japan during those years.

A surreal and little known game to add to this list would be 'Hauntology House', based on a concept by Tom Ellard of the Aussie experimental electronic group Severed Heads. He also did sound design for the game.

I can't find any videos of it online unfortunately but it can be played/downloaded here:

Actually speaking of weird musician games, Peter Gabriel from Genesis also had one made. This later got a release on the CD-I if I remember.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7EKnhIG6zY

He also made another one that is actually a bit more of a "game", but it's just a point and click. There's virtually no footage of this game being played without commentary unfortunately.

the Lain game is pretty out there. Its pretty far from a game, you just explore this system of files trying to find images, audio recordings and cutscenes to piece the story together yourself
