Hey I heard anon doesn't turn off his power strip after he's done gaming.
Rip his consoles.

>> No.5026501

My SNES has been continuously plugged for probably longer than some people on this board have been alive and it still works without issue.

Same. My NES has been plugged with only the briefest of interruptions since 1986. It still works great.

my TRS 80 coco2 has a slight power draw even when turned off and this could lead to early death because power supplies weren't designed to handle electricity

Is this a general rule or only a certain time frame. I’m just not familiar with this.

My SNES power supply stays warm/hot when it's plugged in even if the console isn't on, I think.
I never took any chances and always unplug it because of that.

I live in my own house and have lived in various apartments over the years, but I always kept my SNES hooked up for the majority of the time. Also, my parents don't even have a basement.

Still hurts to this day bros... I bought a new one from a used game store, but it's got issues and sometimes fails to start up.

Can electronics explode from a lightning surge?

>> No.5026951

>>5026942

Dunno if they actually go boom, but lightning can cause such a strong electrical surge through hardware that it downright fries every circuit. It's like using a car battery to jump start a Tamagotchi.

Explode, no, but they can suffer severe internal damage.

The snes would have been the cheapest out of all if them to replace though. I'd say you got lucky.

I always flick the power strip switch/unplug anything that has a power-supply that gets hot even when not in use, simply because it's a waste of energy.

When I was in college, I lived in two different apartment complexes as well as rented a house for a year. After college, I moved back in with my parent for a while before getting another apartment and eventually moving to the house I have currently lived in for 8 years. I apologize if I offended you by saying my SNES has be active longer than you, but I can't help the truth.

It's not uncommon to move every 2-3 years when you live in an apartment due to getting better deals on rent, changing jobs, moving to a different part of town, etc. Just what is deadbeat about that?

If someone is deadbeat, they literally stay in the same fucking place, because that's the only place they can afford and can't get a better deal.
