Yeah, so, the designs here are based on the colorings of the icons in W&W3, if I remember correctly.

The Brightsword is the first one Kuros uses and is based on the title screen design.
The Sword and Long Sword are based on the basic swords you find in Ironsword, but may be colored based on W&W 3's starting sword icon.
The Axe is from W&W 2 and is detailed based on the pick-up screen you get when finding it.
Agor's Battle Axe is based on the tiny axe you throw in W&W 1, but is also designed from and for the level 2 Knight's throwable axe in W&W 3.
The Ironsword is obvious.
The Diamond Sword, believe it or not, is stronger than the Ironsword, and is properly based on what Kuros holds in W&W 2.
The Silversword is straight up based off of W&W 3's design.

I was making small icons for like a Minecraft sort of texture pack, but I know nothing about making new weapons and stuff in that game, so... it just became a hobby instead of a project.
There also seems to be bigger icons that I haven't finished yet. If they're interesting enough, I'll finish 'em for you.

Seems I was also working on various icons, treasures, and items you see in the games.
I was attempting to make medium sized icons of them all. (The ones in black and white boxes, as well as the smaller blue ones, are official art, not mine.)

If any of these or the weapons in the previous post are interesting to you, you may use them. I don't really have a purpose for them myself, but to see them used somehow in someone else's work would be gratifying enough for me.

This is entirely because they're stuck in this stupid 90's mentality of "you have to ask permission to use this". In reality almost no licenses work like this because it effectively means if the author is unreachable the resource is unusable. Instead licenses specify certain levels of re-usability and attribution, up to not allowing public releases of any works made using a resource. In cases where the resource is intended to be used by someone other than the author for publicly released works, various types of legal attribution are specified and anyone is generally free to use it so long as they comply. There are dozens of licenses like this for art and code resources that are freely available to use for anyone. As for maps, like I said the one that made me post about it last night was Map 19, it ends with a BFG in front of a switch that opens the exit area, with a Cyberdemon guarding the exit button with Cyberdemons hiding behind walls that can be shot through, which is why I thought you would need a BFG for that section.

I remember playing Burl Tumd in 94-tune up and this one section was a fucking shitfest because there was an archie in the distance and the flames themselves dealt damage before the big boom, trying to hit it while snapping from cover was a bit of a chore

How do I make an existing save in GZDoom work with a new mod installed? It either doesn't want to load with the new mod activated, or it loads and the mod is not working.

Yeah, it sucks that Doom can't really do anything with the Thief's crowbar and key mechanics like in W&W 3, unless it were to have levels and scripting included maybe.

I'm liking these abilities, though. I can see why you'd like the designs from the original games, all of them. Yeah I can redraw the designs in different sizes, other directions with alternate colors, and swapped features from other/similar things.

The only skill I most likely won't be good at is shading them. I can TRY, but they may be off in certain aspects. I'm guessing that you just want the general shapes and you'd have someone else detail onto what I've put down though? I'm cool with that.

Playing DOOM2 with it on Metatron difficulty (Ultraviolence + Fast enemies baked in) and it's such a tight experience. Can't recommend enough. It's similar to BURL TUMD but like >>5004883 said, it's more about fluid combat. I really loved the weapon rebalancing the author did. Plus he changed the AI to behave smarter/work together so there's more of a challenge, but he also throws you a bone with an improved Fear mechanic you have a chance of inflicting on demons if you kill too many of their buddies or a powerful ally next to them.

not a big deal, I was having a good time, but after I started recording D4T OBS stopped capturing in gzdoom
tried other mods, same thing, I dont know what happened here, generally gzdoom takes a bit to start capturing footage but now it just captures a black screen, this is pretty weird

Do you guys keep Jump/Crouch turned off for the WADs you play unless it's specifically mentioned in the readme that you will need them?

Or do you keep them on Default, so that maps like Sunlust that specifically don't want you to Jump/Crouch disable that for you in the rules by default but in all others it's fair game?

Do add to what will probably be a clustefuck/backlog, you should try some monster mods as well. Colorful Hell is probably the most recommended and is made by an anon here; there's also Champions as an alternative to Colorful Hell. You could give Dark Doom Creatures a try, but I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but you may enjoy it. There's also Doom RL Arsenal (DRLA), that's a gameplay/weapon mod that includes it's own standalone monster wad, which I enjoy.

Been previewing mods all this while, just playing for a few minutes each. I'm just floored. High Noon Drifter and Samsara have been stand outs for me so far. I can't believe the latter got Ranger so right, playing Quake in Doom feels just right, HUHs included when jumping and everything. I don't know about redeeming anything, but I like that PB adds weapons that I fun and not redundant, I still find uses for all of the automatic weapons on slot 4 whenever I got through a megawad for example, without any one weapon not being grossly overpowered. Plus the monsters that are included with it don't make it feel like a pillowblaster slaughterfest (although I think that black cacodemon is bullshit and always turn it off).

So I missed Screenshot Saturday, because all kinds of new things broke and I couldn't show it.

I fixed random spawners, because I was an idiot and didn't make them inherit as randomspawners.
New decorations for the gibbed marines, various gory things will spawn.
I'll probably use a single hand grenade as a pickup rather than a near empty grenade container, just because it'll look a bit cleaner.
With me figuring out the randomspawners, it means I could put in the tree variants, like in normal Immoral Conduct, trees block shots and projectiles.
Also decided I'd make the imps faster, and made them way too fast at first.
Arachnotrons fire a far faster stream, however at somewhat less damage, they're pretty brittle as is.

Plutonia was commissioned by iD Software from Team TNT.

As Evilution was nearing completion, and like just hours before it was going to be released for free, they got a business proposition by John Romero to turn it into commercial release.
They ended up agreeing to that, and part of the contract was that Team TNT would develop another 32 level megawad to go with Evilution, and they would be published together as Final Doom.

Neither Evilution or Plutonia was just something that was available online, the former hadn't been released, and the latter was made after the agreement was made. What other WIP megawad was available at that time (November 1995) which looked good and which iD Software would have been willing to purchase, and had people to put together a second megawad?
Mind it can't contain any kind of copyrighted stuff like music or textures from Rise Of The Triad or Duke Nukem 3D.
You would also need to get all of the people working on the megawad to agree to make it commercial, and things would possibly have had to see some changes that people would have to either agree to or leave the project.

Tom Hall BARELY worked on Doom, and almost everything he did, including the story, was thrown away when he was fired.
When he was working on Doom, it didn't even feature any single Doomguy, rather it was a number of characters with different stats, who would later be recycled for Rise Of The Triad, and for that matter, Doom didn't even take place on Phobos/Deimos at that stage, his idea was an interstellar planetoid called Tei Tenga.

I'll gladly trust Tom Hall's word on the canon of Commander Keen and Wolfenstein 3D, and those games are related, because Billy Blaze literally is the grandchild of B.J Blazkowicz, Tom Hall wrote it as such with those games.

Posting this because I've tested it till it made eyes fucking bleed, so it probably works well enough.

It's a set of patches that make Doom gameplay mods mostly compatible with Hexen, tested it with GMOTA, Bulleteye, LA Tailor Girl, Metroid Drednought and other junk, most work fine or well enough.

Don't include the monster pk3 with mods that don't supply their own monsters, you just get invisible enemies.

The default brightness setting on gzdoom and zandronum make it a lot more visible than that. More importantly the creeper's movement is what makes him the most noticeable, which isn't something you can really capture in a screenshot. Far as I can tell it supports both Chex Quest and Chex Quest 3, the monster patch works but I don't know why anybody would want Chex Quest without the ayys.

The legendary bfg by default works on legendary monsters, the altfire (a weaker, less-ammo consuming shotgun-like attack) in particular makes mincemeant out of them except the legendary cyberdemon and spiderdemon of course, they drop upgrades to your bfg however.
Other than that, not that I know of but I know that there's certain weapons that can deal with legendaries easily like the railgun and dtech railgun which you can use to snipe them from afar and kill fairly quickly. Oh come on, with Colorful Hell you can also get like Black or White tier enemies on the first map. But nobody ever calls that unfair.
Even though CH doesn't even have weapons to deal with higher tiers.
Complex at least gives you the tools you need to defeat stronger monsters; even if you don't have good weapons, you still always have grenades and mines, which are REALLY good and powerful if you use them correctly.
As for getting a Legendary right at the start, just reload the level! I always keep a separate save right before the exit of the map, so that if the next map has some bullshit, I can just reroll. It's not that hard.

Some COMPARATIVELY beautiful visuals can be created in the Quake engine. Those COMPARATIVELY beautiful visuals however cannot compete with visuals newer engines allow for, and thus the primary thing they achieve is emphasizing the age of the Quake engine, moreso for the vanilla version of it.
This calls for a question to the "limit-pushers". Why continue harping on engine that is just not good with eyecandy instead of working with the engine that doesn't have any problems with eyecandy - especially since eyecandy is apparenly that important for you (meaning "limit-pusher")?

I like it a lot.
I don't think it's necessary as a feature, but I think it's a very nice touch for realism, or 'realism', it can really add to how a weapon feels, like maybe a really big revolver, or a particularly powerful machinegun.
Potentially I think it can add a layer to gameplay in how you need to get used to and learn the weapon a little bit.
