Is MML2 worse than MML?

Not really. The controls in MML is abysmal.

I only played Legends 1. How does 2 improve the gameplay?
I agree though, the gameplay in Legends wasn't the best, I'm curious if I should actually try 2. If it's actually any better.

They're both really bad games.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there chief.

MML has an excellent sense of exploration and incredibly cohesive art direction. You have lots of options for customization and tons of optional treasure to find that really gives you a sense of progress and incentive to explore old areas again.

The controls are a little wonky, but you get used to them.

>> No.5003195

What I don't like about the second game is how pretentious the story and the game universe became, like in some shounen anime. But as a game, in a pure gameplay view, it was a better.

MML3 was looking to be even worse, with a bunch of awful OCs shoehorned in the game.

There's nothing wrong with the controls. The game is designed around even. It's not a 3rd person shooter.

The game's piss easy for anyone to be complaining about controls.

This is part of what I mean when I say the game is designed around its controls. If it controlled like metal gear solid 5 it would be so mindlessly fucking easy, like what would even be the point?

Dumb ass Zoomers don't realize this game is supposed to be similar to ocarina of time not Ratchet & Clank.

The controls are indeed pretty shit. I'm not a "dumbass zoomer", I owned MML for the PSX when it was new. I rented it from my local video store an never returned it, parents just paid it off. The main problem with it is the fucking camera. Everything else is fine but you have to constantly manually adjust the camera and get shit angled right. Very annoying. These days I play it on my PS Vita and I'm able to map the L1 and R1 buttons to Left and Right on the second analog stick. This makes a huge fucking difference. It takes the controls from being shit to merely being mediocre. Despite the controls I really love the game. It's probably my favorite that I played on the PSX.

how are the controls on n64?

Controlling the camera with R1 and L1 worked just fine. There's also a fucking lock on you idiot.

How does Legends fit into the greater Mega Man universe?

>> No.5008190

I think so, even if the gameplay is better, I've replayed 1 numerous times but only finished 2 once. There's something magical about the first one setting.

Just because it worked (and still does) doesn't mean it's good. Even the reviews at it's time of release mentioned that the controls suck, I read one comparing it unfavorably to Mario 64 which was released before it. There's more to the game than just combat, you're not going to lock on to the NPCs you talk to when you're walking around. Being able to manually control the camera with an analog stick makes a big difference in making the game seem less dated.

That's why I put strafing on L1 and L2 instead. Best control setup.

>> No.5008278

>>5002768
I'd say yes. It has a couple quality of life upgrades. But a lot of annoyances too. The "elemental damage" is a huge hassle. The NPC's don't have nearly as much to say. There doesn't feel like there's many sidequests this time around. It wants you to grind for all the shoe upgrades and manually switch between them all the time (a second pair of jet shoes exclusively for underwater?). Oh and the Nino water ruins. What a slog.

The story and characters did still make it feel like a worthy sequel though.

i prefer 1 but that doesn't mean 2 is a bad game at all. it does something better imo.

>>5002819
2 has more upgrades/customization.

more worlds with environmental themes...desert...snow...etc.

controls can be fine in both games. I had do configure my strafing then I was fine. not sure why people have a problem there.

I heard something a while ago on /v/ that I thought was an interesting take on the series.

>MML represents a massive intertwined world where everything affects eachother, and it all comes together into one big picture. It's essentially the Majora's Mask of Legends. All the dungeons come together, all the NPCs interact, one action leads to another, and your progress is a direct result of how you deal with kattlelox and its inhabitants

>MML2 is a bigger adventure, but is more isolationist. The islands don't interact much, and it's more a series of destinations meant to give you a grander story. It's like the ocarina of time of the Legends series. Your adventures on each island essentially take place closed off from eachother, but because of that you can feel more variety in the environments, atmospheres, and NPCs.

>Tron Bonne is an okay spinoff, like Metroid Prime Pinball.

There's something to like about each game if you think about it.

Here's a tl;dr of the series, in chronological order.

>Megaman Classic series: Mega stops wily and his robots
>Megaman X: Zero violently murders everyone from the old series, give sigma cyber-aids, becomes a good guy, him and X save the day and destroy the sigma virus
>Megaman Zero: X dies, Zero destroys the bad guys, dies as well
>megaman ZX: all the humans who have existed are now dead, replaced by synthetic robots. only one human exists
>Megaman Legends: everyone is dead, the world is flooded, and killer robots are trying to fix everything. The human from NT decides to do some random crap
>Megaman NT and Star Force: non-canon spinoffs

>Zero violently murders everyone from the old series
Fuck you, this webcomic fan theory has already been debunked yet people like you keep spreading these lies.
>megaman ZX: all the humans who have existed are now dead, replaced by synthetic robots. only one human exists
That's LEGENDS, there's still humans around during ZX.

>Megaman Legends: The human from NT decides to do some random crap
What the fuck are you talking about?

>Megaman NT and Star Force: non-canon spinoffs
For fuck's sake, it's not just "non-canon" it's an alternate timeline where Dr. Light has kids and champions networks instead of robots, leaving Wily a bitter old man who wants to destroy that system.

Why are you weighing in if you have no idea what you are talking about?
