How were you supposed to know to go into the castle at the start of the game? Peach only says to come "to" the castle, not to go inside.

James Rolfe said something very wise about this once imo. I think it was in the "James and Mike mondays: Castlevania 2" video bit not even sure...

Anyway he said he was asked how could anyone figure out which lake you were supposed to walk under since there are more than one lake and the hint is just about a lake.

He answered that if it didn't happen to be the lake he tried first he would simply try another one, and that back then he didn't feel such a need to beat the game: he would just play with it for a while and turn it off.

I don't know I thought it was beautiful. One more thing that probably doesn't have anything to do with anything (either): I was replaying Jak 3 on ps2 at the time and felt really frustrated because of this one part where you have to follow a floating light with a hoverboard and I kept thinking how was anyone supposed to react to those turns without knowing them beforehand. James' quote made me realize that maybe I wasn't supposed to: It's not like you lose anything by dying at that part! I just never had thought that way about 3D game before!
>inb4 that part's easy!
yeah I could also just suck too.

And sorry for a blog post!

Dunkey has a video on game difficultly that perfectly sums up the difference between a game with a high skill ceiling and one that is arbitrarily difficult. I'm not a big fan of many indie games but it seems like a forgotten art few modern studios can achieve.

Meanwhile, while i'm forgetting about huge plot points, you idiot savants remember every fucking single minutia of detail from every game you've ever played.
