Will they ruin him too? There's at least three hints you can get with the teaser, and each one of them points out to a shallow remaster based on the stupid kid-mode psp remake.

Also Medievil thread. Didn't see these in a while. Gargoyle's speeches are appreciated

From now on, I'm going to complain about remakes in ever remake thread, because fuck em. They aren't creative. They won't recapture the magic you experienced with the original title. If you buy remakes, fuck you; you enable this shit industry, and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

I'm going to buy the FF7 remake because I haven't played it :-)

I'll actually steal it

There are a few remakes that are truly excellent, though. Ys 1&2 are a perfect example, Sword of Mana being another.

I get the sentiment, though. Most are shit or just hollow mimicry.

The Resident Evil remake is better than the original.

This. Fuck the messed up jump inertia of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, fuck that bland Spyro remake that didn't even came out yet. I'm mentioning the tip of the iceberg i know, but you get the point. Remasters, remakes, graphic overhauls, all this stuff come to a price. Not only the economic one, but you won't absolutely get the same feel, hear the same sounds, see the same textures and so on. Maybe i'm biased because i know i fucking love those damn gaudy pixels on these games but the hell with that, it's very rare the case you'll get a fine game with this huge, lucrative videoludic market. An example is the Monkey Island Special Edition, that lets the player switch to the old version at anytime of the game.

Yes. Mentioning at the end of the post doesn't change that the main reason for the thread is talking about a new game. If he wanted to start a Medievil thread he could have done so.

When has this ever worked out this way, though? I mean, when has the support of a dead franchise deciding to milk its dried up udder with a remake ever resulted in a revitalization spawning a decent sequel?

Yeah, that's really not the same thing. I was specifically asking for an example of a *remake* having this effect. A gaming-related example would be even better.
