Just research thrill rides first to get go karts and launched freefall. Karts will bring in 10k/hr and freefall will bring in 5k/hr

Then build a coaster or two. Easy win. Don't research water rides early for log flume, too much shit in the water research tree.

4941705

Started a new game of Forest Frontiers, this time I thought I'd mess around and turn it into the sandbox, hence the 1 million dollars and all purchasable land owned.
Looking for some feedback, how does it look so far? Problem is I'm fine making flat rides and making them look good, but I cannot for whatever reason make a decent looking rollercoaster. I keep trying to build one but they never look good and detract from the comfy theme I'm going for. Do you guys know of any good guides that can help me make not shit coasters? Also I'm planning on that railroad to be a 1 station tour of the park, with it also going around that small lake in the back for a bit of a scenic detour.

>> No.4941724

>>4941705
I literally can't do what you posted. It's out of my mental capacity.

>> No.4941730

>>4941705
Try to keep rollercoasters to themselves but if you try hard enough intertwining ones that go near other rides and over paths can still look good but you need to be wary with them, especially with wooden ones where the supports on them shit all over what's under it. Also try to keep looking at it different angles to keep each one good looking.

Also you can just have the railroad track go literally on the path like a railroad crossing on a road since you're using openrct.

>> No.4941748

>>4941730
Like take this one I made for example.
>>4929006
It doesn't detract from other parts of the park at all and it has its own theme (granted I think it could use something more than two samurais but you get what I mean). Yeah sure wild mice are compact and not every coaster is compact like wild mice but it's possible to build more compact ones, and if you can't do that plan ahead a certain large area reserved for the coaster. Considering you're playing on Forest Frontiers you need to be very conscious about this.

>> No.4941762

>>4941748
Thanks for the advice! I'll try that and see how it ends up. I actually found out about the railway crossings by accident, but decided to keep the arch because I thought it looked cool, even if a little impractical. Also I was excited that OpenRCT2 added the terrain options from RCT1 so I wanted to incorporate the bricks somewhere.

>> No.4941768

>>4941762
I literally don't know how you got the terrain from RCT1.

>> No.4941780

>>4941768
when in the main menu go to the options, on one of the tabs there is an option to import RCT1 content. Assuming you have it installed you just need to select the installation folder and there you go, all the scenarios and tracks from the first game are now imported into OpenRCT2. Not sure if that is what gave me the RCT1 terrain options or if that just a new feature for OpenRCT2. Either way I'm really happy about it because back in the day I used that brick terrain all the time, it was the feature I missed the most in RCT2.

Allow them to leave the station with less than full loads. River rapids are a very high-capacity ride, the boats will bunch up at the station waiting for passengers. If you toy with the wait/leave times and minimum loads I'm sure you can find a balance that fits your design.

I kinda liked the way this game made you actually walk around the airport and forced you to plan your day somewhat because walking from place to place took time, but on the other hand there just wasn't enough complexity and it was just kinda too easy to get rich, stomp everyone else, buy out their airlines and be left alone. When land is for sale around where I live, it's usually not maintained well. Perhaps you should add a field of small trees and shrubs, just a forest of pioneer species. Or some weird reverse shuttle design (pic is what I've tried in a similar situation). Your design looks great, though, can't wait to see it with scenery! I've always wondered how the classification into "Schwarzkopf", "GCI" etc comes up. Are there specific characteristics to the different manufacturers?

>I've always wondered how the classification into "Schwarzkopf", "GCI" etc comes up. Are there specific characteristics to the different manufacturers?
Most coasters in RCT are classified by their track, for example all the coasters featuring the Floorless or Inverted track are all B&Ms, Bolliger & Mabillard. Sometimes the distinction is made by the train types, the Articulated Woodie train are GCIs Millennium Flyers. If you have a coaster built by a nerd you can also generally identify it by the design, img related is an obvious GCI identified by the twisted drop, low to the ground turns, constant banking and small airtime hills.

It's ok to have some spaghetti in realism sometimes, just take a look at the Liseberg mine train. Your layout isn't by any means bad on its own. The hill just before it flies over the golf course would be perfect to put path under, it all comes down to how you theme it.

The double diagonal bit that pops under the lift hill sticks out a bit awkwardly, nothing wrong with going under the lift, it just looks a little forced?

Your foliage is improving a lot Narc! The tree selection is a little random but the composition and clumpiness looks really nice

It's my birthday today, but I thought I would give you guys a bit of a gift to celebrate. I don't know if you have heard of the game Parkitect but it's really fun indie, EA tycoon game that plays a lot like RCT. Devs even stated that their goal was to try and copy RCT as much as they can, but it does have it's own little twist to it.

Anywho, in honor of, me I guess, here is a link to the current beta. Sadly since this is from Humble store and still in EA this file will not be updated in the future, so if you want a updated game in the future you will have to buy it. Needless to say, I hope you guys play with it a bit and have fun. I am now going to go get drunk.

If you're unaware, Big Biz Tycoon is the English port of Venture Tycoon, a Korean business strategy game developed in cooperation with Seoul National University to teach teens about office administration, quality management, and the joy of sleeping on a cot in your workplace.

Here's the parks water area. Currently only featuring a Mack Rides water coaster. I originally intended to have my usual rapids/flume combo but decided to switch it up a little. Still not sure what other rides this area will have, I feel like I've used all original rides that fit my park.

Hey /TCG, posted this in /rtsg/ /cbg/; and got redirected here (even though I got good answers). Want to chime in a recomendation?

Can you help me find a new casual comfy CBG to play? I want something where I can start from humble beginings and become a power house; but on casual mode. I don't have as much time as I used to, and need something I can easily drop and continue and few days (or weeks) later; without having to remember all the micromanagement I might have been doing. Also, while a bit of combat is OK, I don't want it to be a major aspect of the game. I've looked around at the following games, have you tried them? Would you recomend them?

Kingdoms and castles
Blueprint Tycoon
Anno series
Northguard
Urban Empire
Surviving Mars (seems like a lot of micro management?)

For reference, here are games I've like in the past:

Impression games (Zeus, Posseidon, etc.) G.O.A.T; butit might be nostalgia.
Banished (although it ended too quickly)
Factorio
Anno 1404
Tropico 3
Offworld trading company

I've played and enjoyed "bigger" games like the Europa Universalis 3 and 4, Endless Legends, Civ games, Empire series etc.; so I'm not scared of a bit of complexity, but would rather tone it down.

Anno is about the only one on that list I can recomend. I have a lot in Anno, most all of them are solid except for 2207 or whatever the latest one is.

Kingdoms and Castles is meh.

If you want some good Impression like builders, look up Lethis Path of Pregress. I absolutely love that game and it's very solid and enjoyable. Hearthlands is also good though it's art style sucks ass but it has a lot of content to it.

If you want games like Theme Hospital, look up Startopia, also a personal favorite of mine and I think it's only like $5 on steam.

If you want more Dorf Fort like games, Rim World, Oxegen not Included and Stone Hearth are all pretty solid.

If you want more classic tycooning look up Pizza Connection series. They are all fun. People consider 2 the best cause 3 had a pretty rough launch but 3 is fixed up and plays very well.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I kind of threw the station scenery together but the rest of the layout ended up flowing very nicely.

Question, in OpenRCT2 it's clearly using the RCT2 rides and coasters etc. I liked building with the mini steel coasters in RCT1, but hated how they got downgraded with the junior coaster in rct2. Yet... you can play scenarios like Diamond Heights with a pre-built junior coaster that still has the steep drops and hills. Is there a way to unlock this when you build them or am i sunk?

It's a double edged sword.
If no one buys the game in order to protest Denuvo then publishers say "oh well no one likes this kind of game we won't ever fund one ever again"
If you do buy the game to support the devs then it plays right into Denuvo's "we're simply trying to protect initial sales" angle and causes publishers to continue shelling out for their malware.

Does anyone else get the urge to build parks in RCT after just visiting one IRL? All the coaster screams make me think of it.

>> No.5021373

Absolutely. For me it's mostly scenery, I'm quite familiar with most coasters in my corner of the world but I always spot some inspiring scenery piece or building detail I can use to make my parks seem more realistic.
