In the context of the game, it doesn't even make sense to start a fight. It's a fun little bonus to kill him but as far as flow goes, he was already being introspective and willing to cooperate.

Didn't his actions kill a bunch of people? Ass an adult I must say, he should be put down. Not moralfagging just don't want a screwup like that hanging around - that goes for pretty much all quickly slapped together jrpg "redemption stories". Pahn and Vice should get the noose too. Even Seifer.

They had better be 100% essential and on board with fixing shit in order to live, IMO. And this rarely happens. They're usually a quirky bonus character with "mixed feelings" etc. They should be killed. Traitors and schemers and fuck-ups. All of them.
