Yes, I have. And thats why do don't try to attack on wake up. You block and wait for an opening or if she is far enough away neutral jump in to an attack. She is REALLY fucking easy due to having an extremely predictable AI. The OP refuses to figure that out though.

To be fair, though I shit on it, it's simpler and consolidated controls are one of the things that made it gain popularity when it did. As opposed to Street Fighter where each character has a larger learning curve and more complex moves, you can pick anyone in Mortal Kombat and learn them in a few minutes.

It was like an early party game and is quite good at low level play. It's at high level play they all fall apart.

Jade was completely impervious to projectiles in MK2, where she was a secret character.
In UMK3, what the computer does is the following:
>see projectile
>activate shield
>run through projectile
>combo the opponent
She does those 3 actions in less than a second. It's almost completely impossible for a human to even do this (run while activating the shield), let's not even say do this while REACTING to a projectile that was thrown right on her face.

MK's CPU, specifically MK2's and UMK3's, is notorious for reading your inputs and having just the right counterattack for it. However, it's also pretty easy to exploit once you know what you're doing.

>> No.4882720

The first versions of MK2 had the computer counter every one of your throws. They counter-throw even while frozen. Even while in FINISH HIM! Imagine that.

They toned it down in later versions (don't counter-throw when in FINISH HIM! anymore) because people lost their shit (and it seems the machine froze if both characters lost).

MK2 and UMK3 are notorious because you can see pretty clearly that they start reading your inputs after the second opponent.

Not to the level of MK2/3. MK AI will ALWAYS react with the same counter attack to whatever you are doing. When it comes down to it, you actually have full control over the AI. Once you realize this, all you do is position yourself, throw your bait that the AI will take 100% of the time, and counter accordingly. eg: in MK2, jump away from AI, kicking as soon as you leave the ground. The AI will hesitate, then dry jump towards you. punish as you see fit. in MK3, neutral jump- the AI will instantly run in- LK while falling into dial a combo.

Projectiles in MK2 have varying AI reaction depending on range: within sweep distance, you're going to get swept. outside sweep to 2/3 arena distance, AI will just duck, or counter if they have a "rock" to your "paper" (Mileena will roll at you or drop kick, for eg) near full screen distance, projectiles with cause the AI to jump away, and get hit.

Taking this into account, realize that there are also moves you can do that are basically suicide. Projectiles against the AI in MK3 is one of these, as seen in the OP webm.

some AI characters have their own quirks as they try to out rock/paper/scissors you. take Liu Kang or Mileena - if you try to jump in they will immediately air projectile you. from anything other than close range, this makes jump ins a suicide attempt. however, if you are in their face, jump forward, kicking immediately. they will attempt their air projectile counter, but your kick will connect first. repeat that pressure just like the Baraka/Kintaro webm.

con't

Outside of MK, the only AI I've ever seen react to bait like this is M.Bison in SF Alpha 3. Tapping jab will cause:
1- he'll duck, pause, fireball. so if you see him duck, jump in, combo the fuck out of him, then back of and go back to jabbing.
2- teleport behind you. as soon as you see the teleport animation begin, tap Fierce punch to inflict a counter hit. combo accordingly, then back off and continue jabbing.
congrats, you just got 2 perfects on him.

MK's aesthetics were barely a redeeming feature, they were abysmal from the start. laughably bad looking stages, unmemorable songs, uninteresting character designs, and repetitive fatalities make it look like a fossil compared to the dozens of fighting games released before it.

I think Shao Kahn is the kind of boss that can just kill you if he feels like it. I mean, when he starts doing shoulder rams and those rising knees non-stop, you're already dead. Don't even bother blocking.

>> No.4891268

Shang Tsung was almost a plot boss and more of a tech demo. His skulls could do a lot of damage, but he had no moves of his own aside from those, and he didn't seem to throw them in sets larger than three very often. If he did though, he could unleash a string of six that would kill the player from full health if they all connected.

Shinnok was just utterly botched and still suffers from some poor use. Shao Kahn, however, is probably the key example of a final boss that the series got right. He feels like a proper badass who could beat all of his underlings (or at least stand a chance against them) and he has a unique move set.
