atari isn't retro.

/vr/ won't discuss these systems because they don't have any JRPGs, which is the only genre /vr/ is capable of discussing.

I played tons of Atari as a kid. But like most people I have little nostalgia for 2600 games. Still get a little excited when I see the that rainbow logo, then I remember it’s just a rotting skin mask infograms wears.

Is Lynx emulation really better in MAME? I've only dabbled with Lynx in Mednafen via RA.

EMUGEN wiki recommends MAME for Lynx emulation and it works pretty damn good for me. Personally I'd recommend it.

My introduction to Atari was pic related. It motivated me to start collecting for a 2600 over a decade ago. Ended up getting about 50 games because Game-X-Change used to sell them in a 5 pack for $5. My favorite game in AAE was Tempest and my favorite 2600 cart was Pitfall.

Pitfall is amazing. Loved playing it as a child.

Except dark chambers and gravitar which are on a separate shelf with other boxed games.

It's not so much a matter of genre as it is whether or not the game has cute anime girls

Has anyone tried to make homebrew games based on the games of this skit?

It does have some cute girls on the adult games of which you are free to imagine as anime if you so choose. Atari was onto the whole "pixelated" porn well before the japanese.

I'm all Ataried out, if only this thread came a week or so ago when I finally got my disk drives working, svideo modded my 400, and fixed my 410. You know, the problem with the Atari computers is the general lack of unique software. Don't get me wrong, the arcade port carts are excellent, but when it comes to unique, interesting software they Atari line is pathetically lacking. Literally EVERYTHING on the platform is shovelware. Everything.

Why numerate?

On the topic, I think it's hame that Infogrames doesn't put A7800 games in Atari compilations.

Sad truth. Atari was the only good western developer to me, after the early 80's western gaming has almost always sucked balls.

For gaming? If so, probably a 520ST or 1040STf.

That would be the falcon, closely followed by the TT. The MegaSTe is pretty good too.
