9 and 10 are the only actual ports. Everything else is emulated.
Sadly 9 suffers from some minor sound issues: sound effects cancelling each other when they shoudn't, and the volume of the music is too low.

This being said, 7 and 8 in MMLC2 are pretty good, I don't know where you got your "horroundous slowdown and framedropping" from, there isn't any more than in the original version, and no severe input lag either...

...unlike MMLC1, as for MM1-6 one is better off playing the NES version using lag reduction and bugfixes romhacks and/or overclocking an NES emulator.

I bought both on Wii when they came out and I enjoyed them a lot more on PC despite the sound issues I mentionned about MM9.

For one thing the Wiimote and the classic controller are horrendous.
Secondly I like my pixels sharp; and on that note sharp pixels on PC helped me make sure the Protoman frames for my MM5 romhack were pixel perfect.

I buy the MM collection 1 for the 3DS , I don't see the thing to played it in steam when you have emulator.Playing in the 3DS have some plus unlike PC.
Maybe buy X collection and Legacy Collection 2 if buy the switch or PS4.
