Losing Sierra will never stop hurting. You could see the difference as Ken lost control of his own company and the takeover tightened.

Anyway. I want another Space Quest but know it'd be trash. I really want more QfG. It'd probably be great. I mean 5 almost gave us a multiplayer adventure/rpg. Even things like the chat in Shivers 2 were so far ahead of the time. It was clear that Ken wanted Sierra to innovate and move games forward. Funny that games have shifted in increments since Sierra died. The things done today are mostly prettier versions of the things done in 1996.

"I recall one particular instance in a Sierra game* where the player could die by picking up a piece of jagged metal from the ground without any prior clue or warning. That kind of game design is sadistic."

AGD Interactive made some pretty good remakes of their games, especially the King's Quest games, all in the style of King's Quest V. Worth checking out since they're free.

This game needs a sequel or a remake. It was the game that first made Al Lowe relevant.

That's really funny in hindsight, but also pretty tedious.

Leisure Suit Larry 6 and 7 are some of the finest adventure games ever made but the industry will never acknowledge it.

The concept for Larry 8 sounded amazing:

I'll never not be mad that they remade Larry 1 again instead of finally making LSL8 to wrap up the legit Al Lowe games.

That said I still loved LSL:R

Some quite interesting games, but their ports were absolutely abysmal. Try playing any of their Amiga ports (even the board/card games). If you'd made a list of the worst ports for the Amiga the Sierra games would be in the top 10.

They just couldn't code for shit for anything other than DOS PCs back then. The ports were an unoptimized mess (thanks to the awful SCI engine they used for most of their games). Especially the Amiga ports still used that fugly EGA color palette despite providing better graphical capabilities and still run like molasses despite the poor graphics. Yes, even the board and card games like Hoyle's Book of Games run terrible slow and also were buggy as fuck.
