I'e been using an xbone usb controller but that d-pad gets OLD after a while. Is there something that's considered the standard that I'm missing?

dpad is better than the low quality digital sticks that came with early consoles. Quality arcade stick with microswitches is arguably better than a mush pad.

That D-Pad isn't even connected to itself. You might as well be using a fucking Switch joy con.

I meant the directions have no center to them. It's about equivalent to having four separate buttons in place of a D-Pad. Who the hell wants that over a plus shape?

That's weird, but then again I am using a Gamecube controller with the Wii U adapter.

What do you even mean by no center to them? Every D-Pad works as "four separate buttons"

>> No.4865702

I'm talking about the actual shape of the D-Pad that the player interacts with. That Sega pad posted has a plus-shaped D-Pad for your fingers to rest on. The Dualshock 3 does not have that, there is a crevice in the center that makes them feel more like individual buttons rather than a proper D-Pad. I'm not sure what's confusing about my statement. I mean if you like that I'm not going to crucify you but I can't stand it.

Had

This is why the x1 has the best dpad. They took what Nintendo was keeping to Nintendo, and then when their patent grip ended MS took the design and made it proper. A Nintendo dpad that clicks and is more accurate without shitty placement or feel like Sony, Sega or Nintendo.

Flat Dpads in the lower right corner are always trash for 2D games, at best the X1 controller is still suited to 3D games. A patrician gamer has controllers suited for each type of game.

Only flaw about the PS4 controller is that the USB cable slot always gets fucking loose, and the PC drivers are piss fucking poor and require third party programs

Otherwise it's a dream and arguably better than a 360 controller

>> No.4867073

>>4864812
Not to mention that since they're stylized into separate segments the PlayStation controllers all have poor neutral positioning meaning you can't just put your thumb on the center and rock it into the directions you want like you can for Nintendo or Sega controllers.
