I tried to play it alongside the translation and ended up just reading the translation doc without "playing" the game. It has some pretty awesome moments and is basically such a different telling of the story that it still manages to surprise.

The thing I loved about Cowboy Bebop was that it had adult characters that smoked and drank and scraped by. No mechs, no magic, no ninjas. As far as I can tell it's essentially one of a kind among anime series.

This predates every Digimon anime. But the guy who wrote the screen plays for Lain eventually wrote a Digimon series. They even recycle some older names.
