Vanilla Morrowind was a fun experience. I remember there was a cursed cuirass that would reduce one of your armor skills to 0 (forget which), but was bugged so you couldn't get rid of the curse. Was rough since that was the armor type I was using and had to switch it up and eat shit for a while. Also dropping some random artifact you found in the middle of nowhere because a bonewalker fucked your strength and then ten hours later you get a quest to retrieve it but now it's randomly in the middle of nowhere but somehow you manage to find it again.

There's nothing stopping you from making a backup and owning it permanently, dipshits. It's more secure that relying on one single physical medium. Of course GOG probably won't be around forever, neither will be whatever you'll buy in a store.

"Technically" you don't own any software. But with a game you bought on GOG, you only don't own it if you don't want to. You can make infinite backups.

Should I complete my Ultima collection by buying 8 and 9? They're less than a dollar each.

The only retro games I bought were
- Star Wars Episode 1 Racer (1999)
- Maniac Mansion (1987) (already had it through DOTT but whatever, it's not like 1,69€ is anything)
- Full Throttle Remastered (1995/2017) which is kinda stretching it...

There's a lot of retro PC stuff I missed, since I never had a strong PC and my gaming memories comes from handhelds. It's pretty good thus far. It started out simple but it's gotten layers as I've progressed. It can get confusing in the dungeons and what not as the camera is sometimes rotated in a funny way. One thing I didn't even realize that normal attack can only be used when you're very near the enemy. Skills you can spam from a distance.

It seems the game operates on the classic town hub system, where you occasionally find new ways to get back to town.

The skill system is interesting as every skill and spell has its own use meter. This means you'll want to get as many sills as possible and you'll be switching them as you get deeper into the dungeons.

I also noticed I was actually getting worried about whether I should venture deeper or get back into town to save. Save points are few and far between. If you die, you can choose to lose half the money and some potions, or load.
You can put your money in a stash so you don't lose any, but I haven't gotten so much that I'd ever had a giant surplus of it. There's always healing potions, weapons, armor and skills to buy.

A good waste of time, really.

It's nice and simple. Download and everything is ready to go. Some old games require weird libraries and dependenciess and special configurations and shit. GOG requires you to click install and then you double click the icon on your desktop to play.
Also GOG is pretty cheap. and you get bonus content with the game purchase sometimes.

I wonder why Pirates are so sensitive about being called a "thief". They tend to give off an uncaring and self assured attitude generally, even in this thread where they bluntly reprimand people for buying games, but as soon as the "T" word is mentioned, they get irritable and start picking apart definitions and playing the lawyer to justify themselves.

It's like taking things that don't belong to them and was not given to them isn't the noble, heroic and sensible act they play it up as.

I grabbed FAR: Lone Sails and FoxTail, getting Sunless Sea and RiME for "free"

FAR was nice and atmospheric but i'm a huge steam engine/locomotive nerd so that really helped carry it, the game was short and almost a walking simulator.

FoxTail is a cute little point and click adventure, I think made by a russian team though the translation is pretty damn good. I played about three hours and then it crashed and lacks an autosave feature so i'll pick that one up another day.

Sunless Sea is Sunless sea, i'm more excited about the development of skies instead.

RiME was great, I played through it in one long sitting and enjoyed it thoroughly all the way through. I've never seen such fucking amazing BRObots that can't talk in any other game. Genuinely enjoyed this, starts out overly cute I agree but the tone doesn't stay there for too long.

Thief doesn't bother me. It's just an insult, it's not like it's entirely unfair to assume a bragging pirate is also a thief. "Stealing" is the word that bothers me, particularly given that high-profile corporate advertising campaigns specifically tried to sell the concept that piracy equals stealing. It just doesn't. Words have meanings and using the wrong meanings on purpose because it favors your agenda just ruins language and makes everyone dumber.
