Probably 3

4 was too easy, x68k and Dracula X were too hard. 2 is horribad, 1 is just okay.

No wonder that Bloodstained spin-off is pretty much just a clone of CV3. Only the very best games get clones.

For the retro games, definitely 3. It has okay difficulty and the different paths give it quite a bit of replay value.

I hate to break it to you, but it's already happening.
Oldies rock stations went from playing ACDC to Stone Temple Pilots.
Most people don't even know who Bill Withers is even though he was one of the most influential musicians of his time.
The changes are happening every day.

Why do you idiots always have such a hard time comprehending the one (1) rule that differentiates us from /v/?
Nothing is stopping you from going to /v/ to talk about post-1999 gaming. We don't measure what is retro by a relative number of years in the past, we measure it against a specific, unchanging point in time, because that's how history works. If we had a WW2 board, does that mean after five years the Korean war is fair game? Of course not.
And those radio stations don't refer to STP as classic rock, they refer to it as alternative, as they always have. They merely changed formats to accomplish this because, and this may surprise you, it gets them more listeners. Radio stations, unlike /vr/, critically rely on having as many consumers as possible. Think out your analogies a little more carefully.

Why is Simon the most well known Belmont when canonically he's only been in two games (not counting ports and remakes)?

Indeed they are, especially IV and Chronicles. Except for Simon's Quest of course.

>> No.4838042

>>4838037
No, they aren't. Different assets, different level designs, different boss and enemy designs, different music, different controls, and so on. A remake is something that is mostly similar to the original, and none of those games have anything in common other than being a retelling of Simon's story, which doesn't matter in an action game.

>> No.4838043

>>4838006
Because he was the first one and the face of the series, plus to the less informed it may not even be evident that each classic game has a different guy.

LoI's also my favorite; tho it's PS2, and therefore not retro. To my ears, LoI has god-tier music, and I actually unironically like the gameplay. Unpopular opinion, I know, but there it is all the same.

>> No.4839179

Not him but, they have as much in common with each other as they do with Castlevania 3.

Chronicles doesn't even play like CV1, has different enemies, different emphasis on platforming, a faster longer whip, and arguably more useful subweapons. Super IV obviously has very little in comparison as well on top of almost every single boss fighting completely differently. They are only surface level similar. They're so far different as to only loosely be able to be called a remake. That surface being that they only contain somebody named Simon and they share the same "story continuity" which amounts to fuck all.

And this is without ignoring games like Vampire Killer or Haunted Castle.Dracula X Chronicles and Dracula X are remakes of Rondo and they attempt to play the same with minimum differences despite differing stage design in the latter.

SuperIV and CV1 don't even attempt to be the same game. You'd have to be insane to suggest otherwise.

>> No.4839182
