Been playing this game out of curiosity and is pretty fun, how are the ps1 games?

Don't even start. Beyond the fact that they're futuristic and the craft hover, it's an apples & oranges comparison. The handling and feel of the two franchises are completely different.

They're better but you will have to get used to the handling, it's much harder because the steering isn't instant. If you're going to play Wipeout 3, get the north american version instead of special edition. SE has some nice features and tracks but it runs at an abysmal framerate.

both have been grinded to crazy times by the same ppl pretty much, i prefer 3 ntsc-u for the faster frame rate and weightier physics + no track leaving skips which are gay.

Assegai if it's a twisty track with sharp turns, icaras if it's something more manageable some people use piranha too. By tech do you mean obscure mechanics? It's mostly very intuitive, one thing to note is that air braking slides you around which can be used to counter oversteer

You mean opposite braking, where you hit the opposite airbrake to slide? Not sure if it's an oversight or an intended mechanic. What's definitely an oversight is boosting on jumps.

>> No.4831534 [DELETED]

>>4831506
Thats it. I wouldnt even call it a mechanic since its just using the obvious inherent property of the air brakes to counter some of your vehicles limitations. You can use it to nullify a slide after you do an air brake heavy turn or you can use it to fix oversteer by letting go of a direction, sliding away from a corner and letting your ship become centered. Or you can use both of those techniques minimally to adjust your lines. Intended or not its a fun mechanic that should have been kept in the newer games...

Qirex in the first two games, have yet to get my head around Piranha in 2097. In 3 I alternate between Qirex, Icaras and AG Systems because they're all fun to play. Assegai is a little too overpowered in the steering department imo so not as fun to play.
